"Teething nightmare "

Hi,
My son is just over 5 months and has been teething for about 6 weeks, during the past 1-2 weeks he has been really bad. He is worse some days than others but he can be really grumpy, crying all the time and wanting to bite hard on everything. I have been giving him calpol, rubbing his gums and doing anything i can to help him. Its driving me crazy, when are they going to show? he has a huge buldge on his bottom gum in the middle so i know they are on their way.

Anything else i can try to help speed things up?

Thanks
Marie & Joshua

Hi ...

My daughter started having teething symptoms around 2 months old ... She is now 8 months and the first tooth FINALLY broke the surface. I tried everything but what i found to work the best was to rub her rubs with some ambosol or oragel then give her a cold teething ring to bite on ... if that doesn't work some cool apple juice to drink seemed to help too

Hi Marie

Not sure about speeding things up, but you could try giving Joshua a herbal remedy called Ashton & Parson Infants powders. You can get these from Boots and they cost about £2.99. They are traditionally used to relieve pain and stomach upset associated with teething. I've been using them on Lucy who's nearly 7 months old for a couple of weeks now and they really do work. You just put the dry powder on their tongue and it works a treat! Lucy has been suffering really bad nappies and this has helped to correct the stomach upset so she doesnt get so distressed.

I really would give them a go.

Good luck

hi, know how u feel, my 6 month old had 4 teeth all breaking through on xmas day, was a nightmare!
Have u tried Bickipegs? They really worked with Connor. We used a combination of calpol, teething gel, get the teething rings which go in the fridge.
let him bite on ur finger, then u can push on the gum too, which my speed it up.
Remember, it wont last forever!!
good luck

Well just wanted to inform you all that Joshua now has one tooth! It made its first appearance on christmas morning, what a perfect gift! I dont think his second one will be long either.

My son Logan is 12 weeks on Monday and we are dreading the teething stage! It must be so hard to watch your child in that much pain!

Thats great news! xx
