Hi all, just wondering if anyone knows anything about this condition. My 4 month old baby boy has a flat side to his head, he was about 8 weeks when we noticed it getting quite bad and since then been trying to get him to sleep on the side that is now quite pointed (he always used to face the left which has now left the right hand side quite pointed). It doesn't seem to be improving either, I've taken him to my GP who didn't really help, I've checked the internet for a cure but the only thing I can find are helmets which cost up to £2000 which I just can't afford and mattresses which are really only suitable to prevent it as opposed to correcting it. Have any of you mothers went through this with your own children? Did the situation improve with time or are there any other methods you know of which could help? I don't know if it is too late as he is now 4 months and maybe it is more difficult to mould his head compared to when he was first born. I would really appreciate any replys, sorry for ranting on for quite a while, I'm just a bit worried.

my sister's son has flat head syndrome. I was worried my son would get it, so i tried laying him on his side and keeping an eye on him. I don't think you can prevent this much, i'm so sorry. My nephew's head is a little better now though. He's only 4months, (like my little boy!) give it time to correct it's self hunni. xx

Have you spoke to your health visitor, perhaps she could help or another gp I normally use another site which is quite helpful the only thing I could find was this:

His head actually seems to be getting better over the last few weeks as I have been trying my best to encourage him to look the right way, everyone's trying to convince me it will sort itself out as he gets older, so fingers crossed!

Great his head is gettin better us mummies just worry that site has lots of useful links on it I have used it since I first found out I was pregnant last september. xxx
