Hi everyone,

I've not been on since my birth anouncement in September.
Hope you're all well.

While carrying my daughter i suffered a mini stroke caused by sress ( nothing to do with being pregnant ) And then after a 40 hour labour my daughter was finally born but she had to be resusitated and we lost her for 3 minutes because she had her cord around her neck, the midwife said not to let people visit for a while because she was a " shocked baby "
All seemed ok, but she is now 20 weeks ( 4 and a half months ) and for about the past 6 weeks or so if you make any sudden noises she really jumps & goes wide eyed like it's really frightened her, something as quiet as a crisp packet when she's nodding off or if someone coughs or sneezes or approaches her from behind while talking she jumps out of her skin...she's petrified! .....and gets really upset, it's horrible to see her like this.

Any idea if this is because of her traumatic arrival or could there be another reason?

Thanks x

My son is 5.5 months, I had a natural birth and all was fine but he also does the same, he is very jumpy, sometimes all it takes is a quiet cough and hes in hysterics! I have tried everything to help him and I thought that introducing him to loud noises such as hoover from newborn would have helped and get him used to things.
I guess as they dont expect the noises it is a shock to them. Try not to worry hun, your not alone with a jumpy baby )

If you need to chat anytime feel free to PM me or email claire.franklin@yahoo.co.uk - I know this forum can be really quiet at times.

Im sorry to hear about your tough experience, I really feel for you xx
