"My son will not let me clean his teath"
Posted by miesh 21 February  at  22:31

Hi, Can anyone help me please.
We have a lovely 3 year old boy.
He was very good about having his teath cleaned untill he had a nasty accident about 3 weeks ago.
We bought him a drum kit a little while ago, and as he was playing on it quite nicely.so I quickley popped upstairs to put some washing away; the next minute I heared a bump followed by tears.
I rushed down to find that my son had fallen down with a drum stick in his mouth.

I crindge to think what damage it could have caused but,the worst thing it did, was to badly scar the inside of his cheek
He was given anti bi-otics and pain killers by the doctor at the A&E and told not to worry about cleaning his teeth for now, so we left it for about a week.
After that we did try to cleen them a little bit in the front and on the other side but, he was obviously still in pain.We have tried to clean them a little twice a day but still we can not get the brush in much at all
2 weeks on and we are getting quite worried about tooth decay we tried again,
He had recently relaxsd a little to allow us to clean them but now he has clammed up completely.
Can anyone help me please!

first of all your poor little one i bet he got a hell of a shock!

Just try to remember it was only a short while ago he had his accident and may still be sore or afraid incase he is hurt again.

i dunno if this will help but my OH little boy would not let you brush his teeth at all for no reason what so ever and used to cry blue murder when you forced him to have them done! So rather than give up as the OH wanted to i found letting the little one see me brush my teeth or letting him brush my teeth while i did his ( after i d already done them like lol) worked a treat as he found it funny. Also used to say right we need to do ten big brushes in order to do such and such and he would do it no bother.

Maybe you could try this with your little one..let him brush your teeth first and then say its his turn or see you brush yours without coming to any harm. It may work it may not i am no expert like!lol worth giving it a go!

hope this helps and let me know how it goes!
