"Bad reflux"

Hi,
My son is now 8months old and gets bad reflux all the time. Its not just after meals or when he brings up wind its little and often all day. He always wears a bib and its horrible to take him anywhere cos he is usualy sick on something/someone! I have been told and have read about a disorder called 'gastroesophageal reflux' which means the muscle on the food pipe is weak and therefore food/liquid leaks out easier and is not able to be kept down. They say it is better in most cases by the age of 1. Has any one experianced this problem before? Can you give me any advice?

Thanks
Marie & Joshua

Hi Marie,

Just wanted to reassure you that this will get better for both you and little joshua.

My son was just the same until he was about 18 months.
It's not nice i know, but there could be worse things and he as he gets older i'm sure it will sort itself out x

My little boy was the same & i no how frustratin it is.People kept sayin it wud get beta but i thout it neva wud!He (Harrison,by the way)was always in a bib 2 & i hated it,i used 2 dread takin him 2 peoples houses cuz lets face it,it stinks!
Anyway u'll b glad 2 hear it did get beta, fink he was about 10/11mths,dont rememba xcatly wen just suddenly realized he wasnt doin it anymore! Now he very rarely wears a bib.Lookin back he was always worse with baby food.
Just read ur more recent message,Harrison was 10mths wen he started walking.Think this is pretty early,my daughter was almost 1.I think(well from my xperience)that boys r more demanding,i no now where the term "mummy's boy" comes from!He maybe winges a little bit less now he can get about but hes hard work cuz hes so mischevious & just doesnt stop,u hav 2 av eyes in the bak of ur head!
Some days i just wana scream but its also lots of fun & i love em both 2 bits & even tho my 4yr old has already threatened 2 move out! i no they love me 2.

Hi Jen,
Thank you so much for your reply, cos i had no response i thought i was the only one! Its really good to hear from someone who has been through it too. I will just keep going till it gets better, thats all i can do. At least now i have spoken to you i know there is a light at the end of the tunnel! Hope Joshua is a early walker, think he will be cos really strong on his legs and when supported can stand alone. Fingers crossed!

Thanks again
Marie x
