Hi all,

im new to this site. I have a 4 week old, didnt really get on with breast feeding so just started on the formula. I have bought some mothercare bottles and got the teats that are orthodontic variflow teats.

Really silly question but he seems to not like the teats they are flat on one side does this go at the roof of his mouth or at the bottom by his tongue, the instructions do not actually say.

Is it a case of him getting used to it or should i try different bottles / teats.

Any help hugely appreciated as are tips for getting him into a routine with feeding & sleeping.

Tommee Tippe Close to nature teats are suppose to be similar to the nipple

All babies like different bottles and sometimes you have to try a couple to get the right one. So just buy one or the least amount you can, try it and then buy 20. Breastfeeding never worked for me either, so frustrating but once I let it go I felt much better.

Sleeping feeding routine is so important!!! I have three kids and this is my trick!

Feed them AS SOON as they wake up from a nap!
At your babies age he should be awake for only about 1 hr. and put him down for a nap.
Repeat this every 3 hours during the day! So if the baby is up at 9am feed, keep awake, change diaper, and down for a nap then between 11:30 and 12 feed or wake them up to feed and repeat this all day. Until night, last feeding around 9 bed at 10 and let that baby sleep until he wakes up, keep lights off as much as possible! Feed, change diaper and right back to bed, repeat this as much as you HAVE to until morning feeding between 7 and 9!

By 8 weeks he should start sleeping through the night!

i dont know about the orthodontic teats but thought slow flow wer best 2 start baby with.I used close 2 nature by Tommee Tippee after my son didnt get on with breast feeding.As 4 routines i reckon most babies make up ther own at that age! Its best with formula 2 try stick 2 the 4hourly feeds but in my experience u have 2 b abit layed bak about it & allow abit of flexability,ul learn 2 no if ur baby wants food or sumat else.As 4 sleepin i fink wen theyr so little its nice 2 cuddle them 2 sleep but try put him down awake sumtimes so he learns 2 go 2 sleep on his own.At 4wks i doubt hel av much of a daytime routine. I think its good 2 av sum routine but dont stress about it especially so early on,just enjoy,they aint babies 4 long!
