Ladies i am going insane. The last 3 days Freddy has consistantly cried from 5pm through the night til 9am, all three days! Im going mad. He isnow sleeping only 3 hours and then needing feeds. The day he is perfect, but hit 5pm he turns the complete other way! I go thru the whole 'why is he crying routine' (nappy, feed, wind etc) but absolutely nothing works! If he was ill surely he would be the same during the day.

Anyone got any ideas or suggestions they would be much appreciated. Its got to the point where my bf is sleeping on the couch and im having no sleep.

I've just seen your post and wanted to know if things have settled down at all? I have two children. My first who's three years now, went through months of crying all night and feeds every two hours. During the day he was fine and would sleep. My second child who's now six months, slept through the night at 5 weeks. Both breastfed babies, so no difference there, however my second baby fell into a completely different routine. He would sleep during the day every four hours between feeds and then come 5pm I would feed him every couple of hours and keep him awake with us in the kitchen or lounge until 11pm. At this time I would get him ready for bed give him his last feed, wind him and lay him down in his cot, whisper good night and leave the room. When it worked, especially the first night, we thought it was a one off. It wasn't he's still sleeping 8hrs every night. If it helps I'll tell you my daily routine. I think what worked for him was having enough sleep during the day as well as stimulation with toys in his playpen and being held in the evening until bed. Then he was ready to sleep. I would feed him maybe four/five times from 5pm till 11pm. He usually lets me know. He suffers very little from the pulling up of knees wind type like his brother. As well - when he cries and I feed him, it usually helps with releasing his wind. He'll stop feeding once he's full and happily sleep. With my second baby I've never had to change his nappy during the night, unlike his brother who needed changing after all the night feeds!

My little 1s neva suffered 2 bad but i av friends whos babies did.Just thout id mention that u can get colief from the docs,save u £10! Good Luck x

It sounds like colic to me, my son suffered with it really bad when he was younger and it will get better. I would advise trying colief colic drops, they cost £9.99 but are worth it as i found they helped alot i just hope they help you too. You can buy them from any chemist-boots etc. Hang in there and the only bit of advise i can give is sleep when he does!

It could be. Jakob had and recovered at four months. It's hell, i know. I was living with my sister and her toddlers at the time as well. So it'd wake everyone up! It's normally worse at night, build up at the end of the day. Any baby can get it, breast or bottle fed. I breast fed. Now bottles though.

It's trapped wind in their bowels. You can get colic drops, or gripe water it could help. It only helped Jakob a little but it's worth a shot.
They normally recover at 3months hang in there. He used to keep me up for 8 hours at night. I made it!
