Help!! im getting to the end of my tether!!

Ben is a monster at the moment, nipping, biting, scratching hitting faces, i tell him no he screams and paddies which i then ignore. he is also paddying loads, if he cant feed himself then he flips, this morning yoghurt ended up everywhere cos he was playing with it so i took it off him to feed him myself and he flipped out and knocked the spoon out of my hand and it went everywhere.

he flipped when i took him out of the sandpit to have lunch (he had been in there over an hour) and it took ages to calm him down.

Now im not one of those mums who pander to their little ones, i cannot bear kids who cry and then get their own way but i can see how mums take the easy road.

so far i have tried a week of ignoring - didnt work, i triend a week of saying no - he ignores this then paddies when i move him (although i never let him get his wn way in this situation)

I know there is no magic solution and he will grow out of it, i am just moaning really, he has been really hard work ts weekend and hubby has een at work all weekend!!

Hi

OMG i haven't been on here for so long. Zac is now also 15 months and starting to have little paddys when he doesn't get his own way. I've tried ignoring him and it normally stops after a few seconds! Also distracting him by giving him his favourite toy though worried i maybe confusing him like rewarding his tantrum??? I know he knows the word no because he gives me cheeky look when i tell it him if he's touching something he shouldnt like he keeps turning the tv off when were watching it! but he looks round to make sure he's got our attention first then he switches it off i say no and he laughs and runs away! I think at this age everything is just black and white to them, ie. if you take something of them they shouldnt have they just throw a strop simply because it's now there anymore they don't understand why. I agree that they get frustrated when they can't express themselves properly or understand you, Zac is also not speaking yet apart from dada but he's very vocal in other ways and a very good walker and dancer! I read somewhere that boys develop their language skills slower than girls for some reason, but then i worry i don't teach him enough even though i try and we read together every night. Aaargh, hope i havent waffled too much sorry not much help

Anne-Marie & Zac 15 & half months.

Thanks

i sort of give him a count down, i said we will have lunch in 5 minutes but he is only 15 months so i dont really think he understands!!

When he throws the sand i tell him if he does it again then i will take him out which i do when he inevitably does it again, i let him scream for a bit then i sit him on my knee and quietly explain that he cant throw sand and he can go back in but if he does it again then i will put the sand pit away!! actually worked last night when we got home so maybe he is learning!! they say he is the same at nursery and they move him away from it so its not just me!

I think the problem with ben is he is too independant, he is like my friends 2 year old!! If he cant do it himself he isnt interested!! he isn't talking at all (the only word he really says is ben the rest is just babble) but he seems ahead in other ways like his hand eye co-ordination is just brialliant and he can stack things and he loves putting lids on everything but i think he is frustrated cos he cant chat to me yet!!

Just have to persevere, I just come on here and other peoples babies seem like angels and although ben is loving and fab to be around he is also this MONSTER!!!!
