Another ? when to take baby swimming?

Sam is 20 weeks on Friday and i've been thinking of taking him swimming (well getting OH to do it, i'm far to fat to expose myself in public yet!) for a while but OH thinks it's too early...what do you all reckon? x

Hey

I was told that any age is ok, obviously not the first few weeks, but i waited until after her 2d lot of jabs, but health visitor said it doesnt matter if they havent had any jab. Go for it!

Right!

i'll tell OH he's ready to go, if not I may have to try and find a cossie to fit me!x

I was told by HV to wait until after the 2nd lot of jabs at 12 weeks. So he will be fine

I have only just got around to taking Holly (at 6months!) as it took me that long to find a swimsuit to fit me and contain my boobs

Rach xx + Holly 6 months

go for it.

i have taken both my babies at 8 weeks. my HV and the people at the pool said it was fine to do so so long as i was confident. they used to tell you to wait until after injections because of the risk of polio, which is spread in water but we no longer have it in this country, so no need to worry about it.

both my kids love it. the only time either of them get grumpy is when i take them out of the pool to get them dressed!

enjoy

love kelly and the waterbabies

Swimming..

hi there,

go for it - we want to go with Emily but nervous of doing it in a normal swimming pool and want lessons with other babies - we are on a waiting list for water babies in winchester for a saturday course so Mark can come along.

I have heard that it is best to go before 6 months as after that they are more aware of their surroundings but I don't know if that is true.....

we have been taking George swimming for 4 weeks now.. he is 20wks... on sunday i think he may have tried to drink the pool dry!!!

I was told that babies can go swimming as soon as they have had their first jabs... ???

Hey

Livvy was 18wks when we first took her. The bro in law is a life guard & he said its best to take them after there last injections at 16wks. You can take them before hand if you like.

Hope this helps

Hey there,
Well we 1st tk r little one once 1st load of injections were over. Thats when the HV said it was ok 2 do so!
I think she was rnd 3/4 month old, 4get!!!!!
U are only in there 4 10 mins or so anyway as it gets cool 4 them so I'm sure he would be ok.
Ask HV if unsure. xx
