Anyone elses baby spent most of the day sleeping?

Hey girls,

I'm assuming its the weather, but Thomas has spent nearly all day so far asleep, or whinging when he is awake (which was like, an hour out of the day)

I've been giving him his feeds (hes bottle fed) and water when he is actually awake, but should I wake him to give him water? I don't feel like I should wake him just for that though.....

It's so hard having a little bub in this weather! You just aren't sure what to do/ what to dress them in/ what to put them to bed in! Just trying to keep him as cool as poss, and in hes in a t shirt and his nappy today.

Lots of love,

Debra and 8 week old Thomas James xxxx

Yes!!

I was wondering about this earlier too!

Yes, Isla has been sleeping for 1.5 hours in the morning and again in the afternoon, when usually the best I can get her to do is about 30 mins tops!

However, bedtime is a different matter, I was out last night but apparently hubby ended up walking round the block with her in the pram after 2 hours of protesting (the excessive daytime napping might also have a part to play in that!) which is a bit extreme but did work..... infact - I can hear her starting to kick off now he's trying to put her down

Also - we've done the same as you, a nappy and 1.0 tog sleeping bag and a fan in her room, cos otherwise she gets her legs stuck through the cot bars when she rolls all over the place and gets REALLY upset or even a bit hurt trying to wriggle free!

I imagine in a week or so it will back to grey and raining and then be like it all summer!! hehe

Love N & Isla (7 months) xx

Hey

That sounds a lot like Megan, the other day we worked out she slept 20 hours altogether.

We have actually been waking her up near the usual feeding times jus to make sure she is getting something, but then she just dozes back off again.

Its normal

hi there,

Emily only cat naps during the day but over the past couple of days she is sleeping more, like an hour each time - I guess it is the heat....

I have been giving Emily water on as she is bottle fed and off but she is not interested but if least you are offering it.

I would not wake Thomas to give him water, if he was hungry or thirsty he will wake.....

It is hard at the moment, we are staying indoors more and Emily's room was 26 degrees yesterday evening so she is just in a vest. She is sleeping okay but takes longer to get to sleep at night.....

It is lovely having this weather but tough on the little ones and us Mums!

I know what you mean....

Can't really enjoy the weather as such as having to stay indoors for the bubs!

Thomas' room has been between 25/27 degrees the past few days, so warm, luckily there are ceiling fans in there so have got them on...you say shes in just a vest, do u then put blankets/ grobag on as well? We've been having him in just his nappy and a 1 tog gro bag, is this too much? Hes a bit of a hot bod so its hard to know what to dress him in!

Nyla...

Has a 1tog and 2.5tog......1tog are lighter and supposed to be summer but i would say it sounds a little much?

Nyla last night just had a footless babygro on-so had arms and legs but no feet but she had no covers with that...i thought as her legs and arms were covered with one layer of cotton that was warm enough.

I did go in twice randomly in the night and she was fine-she also had a small window open all night, it's always better for them to be too cool than too hot.

See how you go tonight..if you still want a cover i would use one single layer of celllular blanket as this has holes in it so it can 'breathe'...as apposed to a sleeping bag that they are covered over and underneath if you get what i mean!

Oh and for advice on temps etc..look on page 1576 of the ARGOS book-tell's you how many sheets etc they need for different temps. Will be one in MOTHERCARE book too.

Sleeping

hiya,

don't know much about grobags but I am sure that what you are doing is fine. Emily is in just a vest then a cellular blanket covering her feet but not tucked in.... I worry that she will wake up cold or want the blanket for comfort...!

Dont know where you live but where we are it will be thunderstorms on Thursday so hopefully it will be cooler after that!
