Sayin no 2 family?...

Hiya,
Does any1 find it hard 2 tell their family not 2 pick up n mall ur newborn?!!!!!
I'm finding it difficult 2 settle 3 wk old in the day and when family r round they just automatically pick her up!
I have even said that the HV has adviced against it n in this heat not 2, but they still do it! If she moves they just pick her up! Was held 4 a few hr frm 11am til 2 pm the other day!
They are a brill bunch though n would do owt 4 me. Don't want 2 have 2 say no 2 then n cause an arguement but its a little unfair when I don't pick her up all time when shes my baby n I'm tryin my hardest 2 get in2 a routine as I have a 3 yr old 2!!!
Any1 else having this problem?!

Hey

I found this difficult too, but in the end i told my OH i didnt like it and he stuck by me and if any1 came round or we went out, we would just say we dont like and want her to be picked up a lot, especially when shes asleep, so just leave her for now. IT worked, we got a few looks, but just tell them, its your child and you are bringing him/her up.
Good luck xx

i absolutely know what you mean!!! when i was staying at my oh's house i was getting well annoyed. I spacifically told him i dont want loads of ppl around for a few days atleast as i want to just have some time with the baby but no it seemed everyone wanted to just turn up and hold her and kiss her etc. they are a fantastic family though and loads of help so i didnt moan too much as i know they wont see her much no that i am back home i live too far for them to turn up everyday! but i do get irritated as i dont want her to get used to being held all the time! i even have to keep tellin Oh to put her down!!!

xx

Hey

We made it very clear that unless we say yes, no one is to pick up the baby, its too hot and if she is asleep i dont want her being woken.
They dont leave without a little cuddle i make sure of that, but its on our say so,

Nat and 11 day Megan xxx
