Retained tissue and breast pump advice

Hi
I was rushed into hospital on Monday because of severe bleeding and loosing tissue after having given birth three weeks ago. Apparantely there is still tissue left in my womb and I am now on antibiotics.
I find it very hard to recover from it all with getting up at night and breastfeed so I was thinking about expressing milk so my husband could help out.
Does anyone know a cheap breastpump that will do the job nicely? Is Avent handpump any good?

Thanks
Katy

Pumps

Sorry to hear you have been poorly!

Re the breast pump, I used the manual Avent ISIS pump which cost (I think) about £25 and it was fine for me. Once you get the hang of it - took a couple of attempts I could pump approx 4-5 ounces in about 20 mins.....

Hey katy,

I bought a cheap, no brand electric pump off ebay, think it cost me about £20 brand new and did the job perfectly, had tried a tommee tippee manual but couldn't get on with it. I still have both and won't be needing them again so let me know if either is any good to you, dunno how people feel about second hand breast pumps but don't suppose it matters if they're not new, you sterilise the important bits anyway. PM me if you want either of them (or both) anyhow, sorry to hear you're having a rough time of it and hope you're feeling better soon.

Love and hugs,
Clare xxx

How much?

how much would you want for the pumps?

katy

Nothing hun,

if you could cover postage you're welcome to them, will dig them out and make sure all the bits are in boxes if you PM me your address I'll post them as soon as I can.

Love, Clare xxx

Hi hun

oh poor you :S
know how you feel, i was in for an op the week after Siri was born because i had material left in me too, which is why my milk didn't come in.
i used the electric medala ones in the hospital and at home the avent isis manual - have to say i found the avent one more comfortable. used it for months and now use it occasionally. very happy with it.

hope you feel better soon hun

Oh no, poor you

Hope you recover quickly, i had a £5 manual pump and my friend lent me a medala (sp?) electric one (v expensive but like one of the others said, try ebay). The manual one wasn't bad but the electric one was much quicker. I have used Avent for everything else, creams, bottles dummies etc and love their stuff so would imagine the pump is good too.

Good luck sweetie x

Hiya,
Ive heard this as well. that electric pumps are fantastice compared 2 the hand ones. I would defs try em out n see which suits u best.
All the best hun, hope ur recovering well.

Hand pumps electric pumps

I had both types with my daughter and the hand pump was ridiculously hard work and ineffective. We got a medella electric one which was fantastic. They are quite expensive but I got mine from Ebay.

Best of luck!

Pumps

I used the Avent pump but wasnt overly impressed with it... It squeeks like mad! which drove me and the OH insane! and i found it a bit tricky to startt with and each time to get a good suction.

My neighbour has a medela electric one and says its fantastic...
