Potty training

How old hav ur little ones been when you started to think about potty training!
My whole family seem to think that I should've started by now!
My sisters daughters were using a potty in the day and staying dry by 12 months!
~But I really dont think that Riley would be able to understand what I am asking of him if i put him on the potty now!
We hav one that i put out near his toys so he got used to seeing it but he puts it on his head lol.

He does hav long periods of dry nappies during the day, and usually stays dry through his daytime sleep! but I dont think he'd get what I wanted him to do if i plonked him on his potty! lol.
I felt a bit pressured by my family to start him but Now i am home I hav had second thoughts! He is ONLY 14 months!!!

What do you lovely ladies think?

Hiya,
I had the same problem with family comparin kids n sayin they should be trained etc!
My 3 yr old tk ages! Didn't start til she was over 2 ( she has constipation probs n is under hosp stil!)
My friend didn't start her little boy til he was 3, but he was dry day n nite in 2 weeks!!!
My little one is 4 at end of yr n still wets herself sumtimes. She is still in pull ups at nite 2.
I ain't pushin her, she will do it when ready.
When Riley is ready u will c the signs.
They say they have 2 b good communicators so able 2 speak n say what they want,
Say when they have had a wee in nappy or say 'done a poo' etc,
Be interested in the toilet or potty.
Its a hard decision that takes time n persistance. Only try it when ur ready n confident 2 hun. I would say he is a tad young yet but its ur personal choice, hes your kid n u know him the best!!!

All the best, mummyand2.xx

all the best. xxx

I agree

I thought he was too young, but my mum, dad, and sister were makin me feel like I was wrong for not startin!
He does someitimes say "ooo bum" when he has a dirty nappy! but he has only just started saying a few words here and there! I dont think he is ready so am just gunna let him keep puttin the potty on his head for now! lol
cheers hun
