Any tips?

Hello everyone

Hope your all well and had a good weekend.

Megan has come down with a cold, she is struggling to breathe through her nose which is then making her cough, she is having to sleep in her bouncy chair or carry cot at the moment and i hate that, i would her rather be tucked up in her moses basket.

The doctor told me to stick some vapour rub in water and put it near her which im doing, and i have one of them things that you stick up the babies nose to remove snot and bogeys, we have been putting her in the bath every night with the heating on full blast so its warm for her, just to help clear her nose a little, but just needed to know if there is anything else.

She is 5 weeks and 2 days.

Thank you

Nat and Megan xxx

Thank you ladies!!

I took megan to baby clinic today and spoke to HV and she said that getting some cheaper vapour rub will help out a little but use it as little as possible.

it seems to be helping her, hopefully this cold will go soon

Aww bless

Poor little Megan, bless her, it's so heartbreaking when they are all bunged up and tiny isn ...

Similar to what Kelly was saying, I bought this stuff called baby nose clear in a blue bottle, it was only about £5 from Waitrose, and we put it on a damp muzzy and put it on the radiator, and it worked an absolute treat overnight. It was so good infact that it even unblocked hubbys nose a treat too who was also a bit stuffy cos this was also when Isla was tiny and sleeping in our room!

I've copied you a link here to a pic of the stuff i'm on about (if it works).

You have to watch out for a lot of vapourising things (karvol etc) cos they are only for babies over 3 months so Megan is a bit tiny still.

Good luck,
Love N & Isla (8 months) xx

aw, poor little lady.

every time oliver has a cold, i put the radiator in his room on low and then put a wet flannel on it, which i have wrung out and then added a few drops of olbas oil too. the dampness of the flannel helps stop the air in his room getting too dry and the heat from the radiator releases the vapours, which help keep his nose clearer. also, put a few drops of baby olbas oil on something near to her, but nothing that she can get at - altho they dont move much at her age do they. with oliver, i used to put it on the bottom of his sleeping bag or just on a cloth and put it near his bed.

good luck!
love kelly, oliver 18 months and emilie, 17 weeks
xx

Hi Nat,

The only thing i can suggest is the Karvol plug in things, they release a menthal smell to help clear your sinusas (sp!!) We use them everytime Scarlett is poorly, you can get them in boots.

Hope Megan is better soon!

Donna and Scarlett 16 months and 24 week boy bean.

Hi hun

he only other thing i can think of is a steamy bathroom - just you cuddling her in there i mean - just have the shower running on hot...
