Whilst out and baby feeding

Hey Ladies,

Still trying to get my head around this babie feeding whilst out... if im out on a day trip or shopping day i would take a flask of warm water, bottles and formula in pots all measured out (i thought this worked well) untill i made up the bottle and it was to warm so i turned taps on in this lovely private changing room and there was no cold water to cool it down so then i was stuck and on the wall was a notice saying "please go to customer info desk to warm your bottles up" lol well i needed to cool it down!!! So in the end i stopped a cleaner and the only cold tap in the whole of that shopping place was in the cleaners cupboard? so unfortunatly but very kindly the cleaner had to cool the bottle down for me.

Basically the whole point of this discussion is, i was wondering what u ladies do and do cafe's /resturants etc kindly heat up bottles for u?

Bottles

Hey,

I used the tommy tippe bottles with the powder dispensers inside so I just use boiled water and depending where I am going I either have cold water or warm pop them in a bottle warmer to keep the temperature. Works really well. Now we have to take food with us so when I am out we use the tommy tippee pink pots with some baby rice and pop some of ella's kitchen in to keep it tasty!!

Good Luck - it does get easier (and messier!)

Thanks for all the replys...

I cud use those cartons but i stoped using them when i was out because i was only using half the carton when she was much younger and i thought it was a waste lol (cheap skate i know lol) but now i think she will probs take most of the carton hmmm and i suppose u can give these straight out the bottle with out warming...Gd Idea!!!

Those flask with cups alot of u have mentioned, i have seen them and considered buying one but beacuse i have a flask anyway i might aswell just buy my own cup to add the water to or a jug? lol it really makes me laugh how much stuff we have to lug around and sometimes i see mums with harldy anything and theres me with a big changing bag over flowing lol.

Well i will see how my shopping trip goes tomorrow

Thanks again for the replies!

Hey,

I use Tommee Tippee bottles and their milk powder pots which fit inside their bottles, I just put the right amount of water in the bottle and the powder in the pots, when i go out...most places that have baby changing areas tend to be more than happy to heat up bottles for me, I have never really had a problem, or a need to carry Hot water around with me...There have been times when I have had to go in to cafe's and restaurants too and they have MAINLY all been fine....Places like mothercare and debenhams i have found to be fantastic for heating up bottles, so if it is a town centre shopping trip you are doing then why not just have a look around the shops that have cafe's and babychange/feeding facilities, then you have a better idea for future reference,

Not sure really on what else to say....im afraid i probably havent been much help

Hope you manage to sort something out...

Feeding

The easiest way I've found is to buy the ready made cartons (we have aptamil) and take those out with boiling water in the fisher price flask mentioned below.
That fisher price flask was one of the best things I've ever bought, I've seen them in mothercare and boots, so you just empty the carton into the bottle then stand it in the plastic cup from the flask, ready in about 3 mins, no faffing!

This is even more of a blessing when you have to start taking solids out aswell, anything to cut down the faffing!

Hey

I dont make my bottles for the house in advance, i boil the kettle first thing in the morning and then put the water in a jug to cool down for a little bit before transfering it to a flask, then if im going out, the water from the big flask gets put into the going out flask so i know its had chance to cool a little. What about taking a little travel jug out with you and then you could buy a cheap bottle of water if needed? might take a little while to cool it down but it could work.

i found that most places wont give you jugs of water anymore to warm up the bottles and i dont like them being put in the microwave.

Dont know if this is any help to you.

annoying!!

Hey babe,
Well I do exactly the same as u. I did have one of those flask but lost it when we moved n thought a flask did same as I carry a little jug with me 2!!!
That was kind of the cleaner lady, but like u say its a real pain when these kinda things happen. Wot kinda place doesn't have cold taps!!
My mate makes her bottles up with the boiled water straight from from flask?!
Most places around us will warm up bottles but normally in microwaves. Not the best way but I must say that I have warmed em up in them when she has been screamin hungry.
As long as u shake em really well so u have no hot spots then its o.k. She don't have em 2 warm so only a couple of secs in there.
It's a real pain when u want a day out I know.

Catch ya later then hun, mummyand2. xx

I bought a fisherprice flask bottle warmer thingy. You put the hot water in the flask, and then when your out and about, you just tip the hotwater into the plastic cover & pop your bottle in!!!
I got mine from Asds from about £8, and I know you can get them from mother care & Jojo moma bebe!!!!
Hope this helps,
xxx
