Hey... Dr.brown bottles are great, rosie had very bad colic one night so we gave in and bought the dr.brown bottles (i say we gave in because we prevuiously forked out on quite a few avent bottles which we hardle ever use now)...anywho they work so well she downed the bottle straight away and she still had some wind but she bought it all up as soon as we sat her up also we add dentinox drops to her milk to help... as for mixing the formula it says on the package to stir with a spoon which we do and whilst warming we keep the neck and teat off the bottle. If we need to use the avent bottles we also stir with a spoon because i think thats the whole reason is not to shake the milk because the milk then has alot of air bubbles in it?
Hope this helps u?

Hello hun
My Traivys suffers terribly with colic. I found using Dr Browns coupled with colief in his milk a real winner. However I thouroughly reccomend a session or two with a cranial osteopath too. They really do work miracles. Is your baby c-section, c-section babies seem to suffer more with colic

Hi nikki
Yes Léonie was a c-sec baby, she was breech. Having said that, my first was born naturally and he suffered lots with colics as well. I thought cranial osteopathy was only for when babies were born naturally, because of the compression of the bones when going down the birth canal. I didn't think it would do anything for a c-sec baby... I'm going down to mothercare this am to buy the Dr browns bottles anyway and give that a try. Thanks hun, Flo xxx

Ps
I also put dentinox colic drops in the milk just before feeding!

Hi Flo,
I for one am a great beleiver in Dr Brown's! Emmy had really bad colic and it would take hours to settle her, then OH done some research on the net and found these godsends! I too mixed the formula in a tommee tippee travel bottle, and transferred to the Dr Browns. If you need further proof, the first time Emily had a feed from one of these bottles, she drank it ALL down, burped and fell asleep! Oh my god it was heaven So yes i recommend them, and i will be using them for the next one (and the trouble with heating the milk is so true, i found this out the hard way, loosen the top, put in water, tighten top, feed, burp, sleep!!!)
Good luck and Tc

Hi hun,
they've worked wonders for my little girl so can only speak from personal experience but I think they're fantastic. Yes, they are a bit tricky when mixing milk, I mix it in a tommee tippee bottle and then transfer to the doc browns to feed her which obviously doubles the amount of bottles you're washing and sterilising all the time, not ideal but so worth it to stop her being in pain. Think some people mix it with a spoon or whatever so that's not the only way of getting round it, you just have to do what works best for you but I'd definitely recommend them.
Lotsa love, Clare xxx

I didn't want
to shell out even more money. I couldn't understand how a bottle could help so much but have to say that yes they were worth it.
I made up the formula in the old bottles and then poured it into a Dr.Browns. If baby is having wind problems I'd definetly recommend you get some of these.

I love Dr Browns bottles, they are brilliant! granted, they aren't cheap, but so worth it, and infact I not long replaced all ours cos they were looking a bit worn but I didn't mind shelling out twice!
Yes, you are right though, the only prob I have is mixing formula, cos as soon as goes up the tube and leaks out the top part it's not only messy but I think they stop working properly then too? I use an avent bottle with one of those rubber cap things to mix it then pour it into the Dr Browns bottle, and thats fine. When I'm out I use ready made cartons and just swirl it around to warm it which also works. This might sound like faffing and extra cleaning steralising etc but it's not really, I have 4 dr browns bottles and 2 avent 'mixers' to get me through the day with a half way steralising session!
We also used every colic remedy under the sun, infacol, dentinox, gripe water etc but I definitely think she was less colicy after bottle feeds than breastfeeds at times.
Good luck, hope this helps Love N & Isla (9 months) xxx

p.s
Meant to add, another little prob is when you warm the formula in the bottles - if you have the top screwed tight then milk travels up the tube as it warms and can leak out the wheel bit at the top too, so the best thing is to loosen it off while warming then tighten it properly before feeding xx
