I'm sorry and good luck!
Kirsti, Daisy, and Baby-On-Way,
I'm so sorry for all of the trouble you have been going through - it sounds like a terrible situation for anyone to be in! I know I don't know you as I am new to this forum, but perhaps I can offer some advice, though I have never had either of my two daughters (Poppy, 4 1/2, and Selena, 3) call themselves fat. How terrible for you!
Anyway, for toddlers, eating can be a challenge anyway, since you can't disrupt their play time for meal time or they will get very upset and think food is a bad thing. So, healthy snacks throughout the day could help get more calories in little Daisy! Perhaps if you work with her to develop healthy snacks, she may be more willing to eat those rather than, say, a bag of crisps, because they are healthy and good for her. Now, I'm not saying to let her think she is fat, but you might have to just go with it without acknowledging it directly for a time. Something like a glass of milk is good for protein, energy, and calcium, and you can flavor it too. Or, peanut butter is great for protein and tasty for little tummies! Try that with maybe some sliced apples, as fall is apple season! Or, perhaps Daisy would like some berries or peaches? Something like that might be nice. If worse comes to worse, perhaps you can make her some little finger sandwiches - put cooked chicken pieces in the blender with a bit of mayonnaise and seasoning to make a simple ground chicken salad and then put it on some little tea breads without crust. Make it like a tea party for Daisy, with some little tea pots, tea sandwiches, and fruit salad, and perhaps she could even invite a friend over to make it like a fun little thing. She'd be eating good healthy food and thinking it was fun! My youngest daughter, Selena, went through a huge food aversion phase, and this helped her, so hopefully it will work for you and Daisy! I'm dreading this happening with my son, 3-month-old Luther!
Anyway, best of luck to you and your family. Remember to eat healthy yourself and relax a bit, and your pregnancy and little bump will be fine! I'm sure the child psychiatrist will be able to help you out!
Love,
Mathilde
