Can you help, , ,

I have just popped over from expecting was just wondering if any of you ladies could help,

I have been looking through what i will need to pack in a hospital bag and every book/ magazine i have looked in has said different,

Was just wondering if anyone can remember what they packed and what was really needed??

Some of the places that i have looked have said that i pretty much need to take all of my flat! lol

Many thanks for your help

I had 3 bags in the end, i only took one in but my mum had to go pack some more stuff as i had to stay in and her clothes her were small because she was a long baby!
Anyway i took

Towel, for you and baby
Scratch mits
Babys socks
couple fo outfits for baby
vests and sleepsuits
make up
shower stuff
maternity pads and breast pads
If ur bottle feeding take in your own bottles and stuff, they do have them at hospital but apparently u have to take your own.
Book or magazine for u
I took a tuna pasta salad in, i was eating it when in labour and after id had her
Change of clothes for you
Lots of knickers!
Pjs
Something to give birth in
Hmmm think thats it??
Good luck xxx

Hey

just wanted to add something to what the others said, i did this and so glad it helped.

Put another small bag aside with some more things for the baby, so that if you have to stay in longer than planned for any reason or the baby goes through more clothes than you expected, you havent got to send someone back and then they end up having to find all the stuff out, can just run in and pick up the bag.

Also lots of pants and old pjs, come in so handy.

Take care

Nat and Megan xx

Thanks!!

It seams to make more sense coming from people that have been there and done it!

Thanks for all your help and see u all soon(ish)

Hi hun

Many many many weeks ago I posted my list of stuff I had packed and got a few PM's saying how helpful it had been so I dug it out hope it helps

For me:

- 2 giant packs extra thick maternity pads
- 2 packs of cheap pants, 2 sizes too big!
- Feminine wipes for 'down there' good if you are sore - saved my life as I had stitches!
- Wash stuff / toothbrush+paste / flannel / sponge / body lotion - sponge was great, nice and soft for washing my sore lady bits afterwards!
- Face wipes, face cream
- Hair brush and hair bobbles
- 2/3 x nightshirts + stretchy pyjama bottoms
- Dressing gown
- Some big fluffy socks and some slipper socks
- Couple of dark bath towels (not new ones!!)
- Some Haribos, snacks, Lucozade and bottled water
- Comfy clothes to wear home

If BF:

- Disposable breast pads - the Boots ones are shite and made my boobs itch so wouldn't recommend!
- Nursing bras although they say to wait unitl at least 36 weeks before being measured for these, don't go crazy buying loads as found my boobs got even bigger than the bras I had been measured for even though I waited until 39 weeks!
- Nipple cream for sore times Lansinoh is the best it saved my life!
- Muslin cloths

If Bottle Feeding:

- Some hospitals require you to bring your own formula and bottles and some provide so need to find out from your hospital or MW.

And for baby:

Nappies, cotton wool, baby grows and vests, socks, scratch mitts, couple of hats, grooming kit, outfit to come home in, blanket and snowsuit!

For OH just some snacks, drinks, camera, tissues - not much as he wasn't allowed to stay overnight but that depends on where you are going.

I also took in my big v-shaped pregnancy/BF pillow which was great I actually used it to prop up my back in bed afterwards as it hurt so much!
