Highchairs - recommend me one!

Hi all,

We will be buying Emily her first highchair this weekend, feeding is getting a little messy with her on my lap and i get covered....

What can everyone recommend. We don't want one that is too bulky, easy to fold away and obviously easy to clean!

Thanks
Natalie & Emily c

Wow!!

I was gonna ask the very same question!

I'm not sure but I've been recommended (by 3 people!) the Graco teatime one, looks quite good and you can get new ones for a lot cheaper on ebay so think might go for that.

Which one you thinking of gettin?

Hi hun

we have the ikea one the others mentioned - it's great!
the only problem is it doesn't fold away.
but it's really easy to clean - the cushion just gets popped in the wash every week, the chair is one bit of plastic so really easy to run a cloth over and the same for the tray - which stops most food from ending up on the floor.

Hiya,
Well I have my highchair from 1st baby who is now nearly 4!!
It is hard wearing n awaiting use in the shed!!!
It is a Argo's one. Beanstalk maybe?! It was only about £25 and was great value. It folds down, has a removable tray and harnesses. It doesn't have the different positions but I didn't want them! It is wipeable and spongy, so a comfy chair. Ain't sure if they still have them in there, but was a fab purchase!
Happy Highchair hunting!!!

Just ordered a new one m yself.........

i've got the chicco polly.... but it's really hard to clean...... and quite bulky... i've just ordered the fisher price healthy care booster that attaches to a normal chair and you can travel with it............. good luck hun xx danica and cadene xx

I agree with jen...

The ikea one is the best i have seen, so simple and easy to clean, i have the chicco one and it is a nightmare to clean, too many little spaces for food to get stuck in, the simplier the better as far as i'm concerned!!

Over the years

I've had all sorts of highchairs.

The worst by far was the wooden one that Nikki has. It was bulky, awkward, very difficult to clean. Looks good in your sitting room but that's about it.

I would advise the plainest, simplest one you can see. The toysrus one sounds good. I've seen one in Ikea that looks very light and easy to clean.

I have a yellow Graco one, it's quite plain. I keep it up all the time so I'm not really sure about ease of assembly. It's OK but you do get simpler easier ones.

It's so tempting to buy the fancy ones that do all this and that but it's a ploy to get our money. Buy a plain one x

High chair

Hi Natalie,

We've got an East Coast one which is wooden which turns into a little table and chair later on, and while that might be useful later, and while it looks quite smart with our dining furniture as it's set up at the table all the time, I don't really rate it for the following reasons;

The seat and the back are at 90 degrees to each other (with a padded seat insert) but nonetheless I think Isla finds this about as comfy as sitting on a church pew for ages (to the point where she seems to wriggle and get uncomfortable most meal times)!! She's now 9 months and the tray still seems a funny height for her to get her arms above, and - I really wish I'd got one with a massive tray and a better 'lip' round the edge because she's sliding food round all the time now and it nearly always ends up on the floor cos the tray is quite little and flat , whereas on holiday she sat in a big plastic one which she seemed comfier in and the food stayed where it was meant to longer!!

Sorry for the waffling, hope this helps, I wouldn't recommend those wooden ones on their own.

Love N & Isla (9 months) xx

Hi natalie

We've got a couple of different ones. At home we've got a Mamas & Papas one but its one of those that is a table and chair later so its quite large and doesnt fold up or anything! Seemed like a good idea at the time!!

Olivia's also got a high chair at my mum's house for when we eat there and if you just want a cheapy one then its great. We got it in Toys R Us. It's a travel high chair so folds up really flat and is great - even better it was only £20!! The tray's not too bulky and the whole thing takes up hardly any room - wish we'd got that one at home too!!

Shelley & Olivia xx
