To all those mums suffering with colic!

i think i have it sussed thanks to some help on here and some other advice!
by baby boy went from being placid to being very bad with colic overnight at 7 weeks. he screamed solidly for 3 days and nights, had him to hosp and everything!
i came on here and was recommended the dr brown bottles which have worked wonders so def fork out and get them if you are suffering! i also use dentinox which seems to work too. i bought him one of those slumber bears that mimic womb noises and this is great for helping to settle them.
but i also use something called fennel tea. i went into a health store and they recomended it. i give him a few sips before a feed and then a few sips after one and it just makes digestion a bit better. its completly safe and he is back to being a happy chap again! havent had any screaming episodes!!!
also i was told not to rub or pat his back whilst winding instead just sit him up straight and let him burp!
hope this helps others! and i hope he doesnt relapse!!!!

Thank you

I'll give the fennel tea a try. My daughter leonie is already on infacol (2 drops before every feed) and I've invested in Dr Browns bottles. I'm not sure they are making a difference though; some days I think they are but other nights when Léonie is still screaming her little lungs out in pain, I have my doubts . It's just so hard to see them like this. It's the second time round for us, as our 18 months old suffered terribly from colic hen he was an infant, but it doesn't make things any easier. It's just plain heartbreaking and I feel very powerless when she's in this state.
I'm counting the days till she reaches the 3 months mark as she should definitely get better by then if not earlier... Gosh it seems far away though!

Thanks!

I will def try the fennel tea, I invested in the Dr Browns bottles and they have made a big difference. Not 100% but def a million times better.

HV advised me to up his teat size aswell to level 2 and he doesn't seem to be taking in so much air when he is feeding. Calum's also had a stuffy nose so the doc gave me some drops cos apparently this can make the colic worse.

Fennel tea......

....... worked really well for cadene especially if it was a little warm........ once she was a bit older i added carraway seeds when i brewed it as these are also good for digestion....... so glad your little boy is feeling better........... take care hunni xx danica and cadene xx

that's great hun!

it's awful when they have colic. i'm so glad that you have cracked it!
they recommended fennel tea in newborn intensive care so yeah, it's totally safe. we were just tld to give 2mls of warmed tea 5 mins before a feed.

take care hun
