Finally! (tmi) and random babble

well i finally got my period! only 7 months after Siri was born lol

it's kinda funny actually, as we have been talking about starting for our next one soon and we were saying 'oh but with fully bf'ing it's impossible to say when i'll be fertile again!' that was last weekend lol. it's a bit strange as there is no logical reason for it starting now, haven't been bf'ing any less, possibly more some nights as Siri is teething.
but i did do a load of acupressure therapy work on all the trauma surrounding Siri's birth, and that was the start of last week, i feel SO much better after starting that work. it's amazing how much stuff stays with you when you don't have time to sort it all out. it only took me 7 months to get the courage up to approach it all lol

how are you and your beautiful babies doing?

Siri is doing great, had her 6month docs check this morning (all the docs from the drop in centre were on holiday when she actually was 6 months lol) and she got a good report, hehe
she is now 18lbs 9oz and 66cm long, healthy in all respects! which is great.
the hv used a great technique to test her hearing and responsiveness - she just balled up some rustly paper and stood behind my chair, then rustled the paper either side of us and watched Siri's response. it got Siri very curious lol

we've just got a load more toys for her, well, half a dozen lol but god, they are expensive! we have such fun going around the toy shops though, there is so much choice! i think every toy needs a 'stop that infernal noise' button lol (the toy stopping the crappy music, not to shut the baby up lol)

we are having loads of fun with food - Siri is really learning how to swallow now, especially cucumber - she loves that! she still can't bite through the skin, but she strips it of the flesh.
she just so looks forward to her dinner time and so do we, it's great being able to eat our food hot while she eats with us. i won't lie though, it took a few times of her gagging for me to learn to trust that she can deal with food herself! (before anyone has a go at me about her gagging, the gag reflex is far forward in her mouth at the moment, so the food is actually no where near the back of her throat - she learns herself that it's not a good idea to shove lots of food, or anything else, to the back of her mouth) but anyway, anything she doesn't swallow just falls right out of her mouth. The cats are loving this method!

Siri is really curious about the cats, it's funny. every time they walk past or decide they will risk settling down next to her, she just turns and reaches out to them. and often grabs on - they just freeze and as soon as she has let go they slide out of reach and pretend they meant to do that all along. it'll be interesting when siri is moving more lol

Siri is crawling, but frustratingly for her, just backwards at the moment lol and when i say 'crawl' i mean more 'wriggle', the advantage of wooden floors lol, she can slide about! She's loving her jumperoo, goes nuts jumping in it and tires herself out really quickly. we're going for walks when the weather is reasonable (been a crappy summer) and she's loving that. i still go a bit nuts in trying to think of new things for her, often feel like i am a bad mum because we are doing the same things. but i guess they learn because of repetition and she is very happy in general. but i am really looking forward to us moving down south to be near family. siri will certainly learn fast when we are there as her second cousin is a month younger, but was meant to be a month older, and you can tell. she is physically further on and not bashful in approaching other babies. i am so seeing the two of them plotting together very shortly!

siri is out of her hammock and in her cot - one evening after her first feed, at around 12 i think, we just decided to bring the cot into our room and we popped her back in the cot instead of the hammock. she stretched and wriggled and went right off to sleep. she loves it! rather sad to have her out of the hammock, she's getting so big! we tried having her in her own room, she was fine, i wasn't lol. so we moved her back in again before we went to sleep lol

so yep, we are planning baby number two! anders is going to be in education for the next 2 years, the first one will be a placement somewhere and the second will be in oslo, so just in case we can't move close enough to oslo by then, i don't want to be heavily pregnant and not have him home every night. and he needs to be aound every night with our new one! so, we figure soon is good! yes i am insane.
i'm off to the docs in a week or so to get the all clear. and then hopefully we'll soon be getting a BFP. it did take some months before, but i had just stopped the pill after a looooong time. so here is hoping this one wil be faster.

ok i'll stop waffling now. sorry i haven't been on here so much, time just seems to vanish sometimes!

anyone else thinking of the next one?

huge hugs to you all
elizabeth & siri

Hello

Wow Siri seems to be coming on great. You and Anders appear to be doing a fanastic job

We are doing ok, we have all had the dreaded sickness and diarrhea bug, seem to be over it now (please) it was awful.

Logan is an absolute star, so happy little boy, a joy to be around, everyone wants him, hehe. (He is all mine though) lol. Im just having a massive problem with the food situation! I really hope it sorts itself out soon!

We are all off to Florida in FOUR weeks, im SO excited lol. I hope Logan will be ok on the 10 hour flight, then with the time difference, the heat etc.....

Thats great about you trying for baby number two...we are going to be trying after Florida, im so excitied. I have a lot to look forward to.

Well I hope this makes sense, I have wrote it quickly and cant be bothered reading it back, sorry.

Take care

Natalie, David and Logan (22 months) !!!!! !!!!!

You have all been busy, Glad Siri is enjoying her food. Ben is nearly 4 months old but we are going to try and wait till he is 6 months to wean him as we dont think he will be ready for a while as he still isnt that fussed about bottles. He is growing so quick, he is now 11lb 13 and 55cm at 16 weeks. We just found out he is milk intolerant so is on soya milk and he is developing bad eczema all over his stomach and arms. He just gets on with things and smiles at everyone. All the best for your plans with baby no2. We are planning on waiting till Ben is about 3/4 years
