Baby eczema

Has anybody had any experience of this. Ben is 16 weeks and developed baby eczema on his trunk and his arms. When he is hot it really flares up. He is already on soya milk cos he is milk intolerant. Anyone got any tips to help. The docs ahve put him on cream

Thanks

A bit late replying but....

have you tried olive oil?

Calum had dry skin all over when he was born and at his ankles the skin was broken and really red- after every bath we rub olive oil all over his body and it clears the skin up lovely. If you don't have olive oil try sunflower oil- I know this is recommended for use on prem babies as it is soo good for their sensitive skin.

Hope it clears up soon,

Eileen and Calum 5wks 2moz!

Cetraben emollient cream.

My daughter had it really bad has a baby, shes 2yrs old now and its seems to have cleared up, i used a emollientcream could cetraben. You would never have known my daughter had it

You can get oilatum junior

which is a bit of a milder version of the grown up one speciallyfor kids and babies. My little one had eczema from about six weeks old but the oilatum junior has worked wonders. His excema has cleared up a treat aside from a little spot behind his knee that he's always scratching.

We also have Aveeno oil to put in his bath which smells nicer than all of the other commercial stuff which just iritates anyway.

In terms of tips I read somewhere that the best thing to do is to apply the cream using downward strokes rather than rubbing in. Not sure if it helps but I do it anyway!

Good luck

Poor ben........

........ cadene had dry skin for a bit and i cut down her baths to every couple of days and got baby oilatum from boots......... the girls are right about the aqueous and steroid creams........ i would have a look at any underlying cause and also (which i'm sure you do) use something like fairy and comfort pure when you wash his clothes, sheets etc... sudocream can also soothe any really sore bits............ cadene cant have cows milk either so i know it wont be for a while but when you're weaning him if you need any tips pm me or put up a post xx danica and cadene xx

Hi hun

Poor little man, hope it's not upsetting him too much. Holly has eczema which was first noticed around 6 weeks, it's triggered a lot by heat so flares up in this hot weather. I have got aqueous cream from the docs which I put on her most days, I have also been advised not to bath her every day as it dries out the skin. I don't use any products in the bath except Oilatum which is good for her skin but not sure what the age bracket is for using that. Anything like baby bath / shampoo / oil makes her skin horribly sore and itchy. Hope this helps, hopefully the cream will help too.

Hi,
My child has it n docs have tried different creams. To start with she had steriod creams but now she has oilatum for the bath n E45 cream. We have tried aqueous cream n numberous steriod creams 4 when it is really bad. She didn't have it til she was a bit older, maybe 1 yr old.
My friends child has it really bad n she finds that Aveeno cream is the only thing 2 help him. U can buy this from Boots I rek.
I haven't had to try it as E45 wrks 4 us but my mate swears by it.
Also they say not to bath child every day as it takes the natural oils so makes it worse.
Hope u sort him out soon. Not nice, bless!
