When do they get out of cots

Hello, just wondering when i should put frankie in a bed? i got a cheapish cot that doesn't grow with him and when he stands up his head and shoulders above it, i also have mattress on an incline as he wheezes and coughs more when his flat. Also he wriggles alot in it, how do you stop them getting out or falling out of a bed? x
thanks

Hiya,
Well I put my tot in 2 a bed when she was round 19 months.
She wasn't settling well n she 2 was standin up, pulling on cot n I found it hard 2 lift her it n out of it!!!
I hada cot bed so we adapted it n brought a tomy bedside rail. It worked really well n stops her from fallin outta bed! She is nearly 4 n in a big single bed now but she still has the side panel on this bed 2. Its great! She moves around alot in her sleep n we often find her with her face against it!!! She would defs fall out if it wasnt there!
Sum people put stairgates onto the bedroom doors 2 stop them gettin outta room at bedtime. We didnt, have 1 at top of stairs though just 4 incase she does wander!!

Hi Kerry,

I have been having tis debate too as will need another cot for the new baby, i spoke to my friend who is a HV and she said that you would move them into a bed if they could climb out of the cot, was too big for it or was toilet trianing, i'm just going to by a cotbed and move Scarlett into that so i'm freeing up the cot for the new baby, i know that if i moved scarlett into a bed now she would defo climb out and i would end up with her in my bed every night and i cant be doing with that!!!

Donna, Scarlett 17 months and 27 week boy bump.
