Oh hon

I've had abnormal cells a few years back and had a colposcopy and a biopsy and loop excision which basically means they kind of scraped away the bad cells. It's sounds awful but I didn't feel a thing, it was an unpleasant as a smear but no more painful or anything. They found I had stage 1 cancer and as a precaution (they actually think it all went with the loop excision) they lasered a bit away too which amazingly didn't hurt either and was over fast. Since this I've had regular smears and all have been normal. I think that cervical cancer isn't like other cancers, it can be detected early and even if it has started to invade tissue like mine it was very easily treated and has not affected my fertility as I now have Sam. Please try not to worry too much, the positive thing is is that you know the abnormal cells are there (i mean better than not knowing) and now they can get rid of them easily.

Remember we are here and if you feel you need to you can always pm me, I don't get much time to post but i always have a quick check. When is your colposcopy, is there anyone who can go with you?

Big hugs, Rach x x x

Hey

I have had this, abnormal cells and bleeding and it meant that different cells were in the cervix and they kept bleeding, nothing sinister and nothing cancerous. It is called an erosion.

The colposcopy is fine, a quick procedure and you are under general anesthetic and you will feel a bit sore and delicate for a few days afterwards.

You will be fine, you are having regular smears and nothing is cropping up but why are you having a colposcopy - have they said.

Nothing to worry about hunny!!

awwwwwww hun, biiiiiig hugs.

basically just wanted to say that my SIL had the same problem a few years back and she had treatment for abnormal cells. she was fine, and went on to conceive my niece afterwards, despite them telling her that she wouldnt be able to have any more children.

also, Emilie's soon to be godmother has a history of abnormal smears and has had a colposcopy a couple of years ago. she has been having 3 monthly smears ever since and has just had the all clear on the cell front and doesnt have to go back any more for 2 years now.

its good they have caught any abnormalities early. you will be fine sweetheart.

big hugs from all of us.

Awww chelle

Awwww bless you hun. I've got a history of abnormal smears aswell so I absolutely know how panicky you will be feeling now (my last abnormal one came a week before we got married and if I'm honest did cloud the whole wedding and honeymoon a bit).

But Clare is right, the worst would be a long long long way off (IF AT ALL) and it's great they can get to things early and put you right. (infact what Clare said also made me feel a bit better too cos I still worry about it aswell, so thanks from me too Clare! xx )

I suspect it will be uncomfortable but hey - after childbirth you'll probably find it a walk in the park! hehe.

Chin up hun, we are all here if you wanna chat if you start to feel panicky again.
Do you know when you are going in yet?

I am going through something similar with my liver. After feeling really crap for months after baby was born bloods came back my liver function was bad. After further tests and ultrasounds they found two tumours on the liver. Fortunately - further tests showed they are benign.

Someone posted on here a few months ago about how abnormal cells work and it was a very positive post. Will see if I can find it for you.

Will be thinking of you and keep you in my prayers!

BIG BIG HUGS!!!

Oh hun.........

so sorry to hear that because it's natural to worry over these things........ i'm sure it will all be fine and it's quite common, i know a few people who've had it...... ... i'll keep you in my prayers and the most important thing is to stay as positive as you can...... if you need to chat hun i'm here...... loads of love and hugs from me and cadene xxxxxxxxxxxx

Hey chelle,

I had this a few years ago, colposcopy and cold coagulation treatment at the same time. Know how scary it is hun but honestly smears are there as an early warning system and abnormal cells will take a long time to develop into anything more sinister, they will catch it in plenty of time. You're probably not worried about the treatment if it proves necessary, know you're a tough cookie but in case you have any nerves about it I found it no more uncomfortable than a smear, strange really cos the treatment I had is basically like a car cigarette lighter burning away the cells, nice! Can totally understand why you're panicking, I worry all the time that something will happen to me and I wont be around for Kaitlyn so not gonna tell you not to worry, I know you will anyway just try not to let the fear take you over, it will be ok hun. I'm here anytime if you've got any questions or just need to talk, big hugs mate.

Loadsa love,
Clare xxx

Hey hun.....

.....am sorry to hear that.....try not to worry until there's something to worry about. Easier said than done I know. Oh hun, am sending you big hugs (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((0 ))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
