Bottlefed babies

Hi all,

My son is nearly 5wks old and is being bottlefed as my milk never came in. We starred feeding him every 3hrs morning and night- waking him to feed. Now I feed him every 3hrs during the day and let him wake himself up at night time. I'm scared to let him go any longer during the day incase it means he feeds more at night time. I just wondered what all other mums were doing at about this time- I have the HV tomorrow so will speak to her but would love to hear everyone elses routines.

Thanks,

Eileen and Calum 4wks 6 days xx

hiya,
well i demamd feed n baby only goes 2/3 hours during the day but sleeps through the night anything from 9/12 hours now.
she only has 4 oz feeds though so feeding every 3 hours is better as she only takes small amounts. if he is taking larger amount feeds then i would see how u go on demand feeding. hope the hv gave u sum advice hun.

Hey hun

Ive been feeding Archie whenever he wants it really, which at that age was probably every 3 hours but he went longer in the night, we have only ever done 1 feed in the night. Hes now every 4 hour(ish) in the day but will go longer if we are out and about or hes asleep, I dont wake him as I find he doesnt finish his bottles if I do. He will also go about 6 hours from his night/early morning feed (3 till 9) and last night he even went 9 hrs which is a first (9 till 6).

He will set his time scale for you xx

Hey

Sounds like the same thing we were doing, we started going upto every 4 hours at 6 weeks, then 4 and a half at 7 weeks and its stuck to 4 and a half now, unless we are out she will just sleep but i dont let her go longer than 5 and a half hours,

We did pretty much the same hun ..

we fed Dylan every 3 hours during the day and let him wake to feed at night .. hopefully this way your lil man will get enough to eat during the day and then get used to bigger blocks of sleep at night ..

Sounds like your doing well

Well after I posted this message he woke himself up for a feed just after 3hrs so think I'll stick with that just now in the day time and hopefully he will sleep longer at night- he has probs with reflux just now so feeding is taking soo long- think it was just me wishing for a bit extra time between feeds!

I'm going to speak with HV tomorrow aswell.

Hope your little ones are all well!

xxx
