Hi hunny
I looked after a set of twins when I worked in SCBU that were born at 25 weeks, they were incredibly poorly and both ventilated and sedated. One twin recovered quicker than the other but eventually after months in SCBU they both went home, one twin needed oxygen at home for a wee while, but i hav heard from my frienbds who still work at the hospital that they have seen them since at clinic appts and apparently they are doing great and hav so far been developing normally. I think once a baby reaches 28-28 weeks the chance of survival is hugely increased and there is less chance of future complications too! I hope that gives your sisters friend a little bit of hope hun, I know that it wont seem like it now, but there may be a lot more hope than she realises! I can remember sitting with the babies Parents that I mentioned and listening to her tears about the possibility of losing them, they were 850grams and 865 grams each! they looked more like kittens than babies. I hope that everything turns out well for both mum and baby! sending lots of love and good thoughts her way Nikki B and Riley x x x x x x x x
