Hi nikki b

I'm interested in your replies to this one cos we have been running our own playgroup since we lost the funding and the staff member in March.
So far it's a bit hit and miss. We all seem to be too occupied with our own kids to put any sort of planning into what to do and it can end up a bit of a free for all. I find I'm spending a lot of time on the floor with mine actively playing with them and making sure none of the others are being naughty to them.
This week the Bookstart folk are coming to do stories which will be good cos they all respond well to this but somehow they don't really stay focused when it's one of the mums doing it.

When it was staffed it was fab, a healthy lunch was provided and cos all the kids were eating together they all sat nice and ate up, there was lots of art and crafts stuff and singing which all the ages loved. Aww, I miss it xx

Sounds good...

Hey hun,
Wow good 4 u. U will have a real fun time!
I used 2 run a playgroup for 2-4 yr olds alongside a mum n tots group. It was a lovely job!
Well enough of that... well soft play is always a winner, messy play that u wouldn't risk doin at hm n gettin house in a mess!
We use 2 have quiet area with bks n puzzles n then a more active area with soft play etc. Depends on the size of the room really. At the toddler group I attend now they have slide out n bikes, bubble cars, dolls, garage, colouring... lot a a stuff really!
Maybe make up a quick questionaire that the mums can fill in n hand back 2 u so u can see wot they would like n are expecting from the group. Good luck hun, I'm sure u will hava fab time!!!
