Help

hey girls

I havent been on here for ages but im getting so stressed....my daughter Abigail is now 7 monthes old n im having trouble getting her to go to sleep..if she doesnt fall asleep on her bottle she will protest when putting in her cot..it can take upto 2 hours some nights for her to go to sleep. At this moment she is now crying n screaming. I try everything, sing to her, stay in the room for a while, leave her to cry. Nothing works.

Can anyone tell me what i could do? is it alright to leave her to cry? i feel so bad leaving her for ages.

love keira ...im having a bad day today boo hoo

Hi hun

I kow we have mentioned this on Facebook lately, I am havin trouble some nights with Riley. People keep tellin me "oh its his age" as he is 16 months now but I dont see how passing an age milestone can suddenly send a baby who has ALWAYS gone straight down to sleep without a fuss, into a little devil who screams to the point that he is vomitting and pooing!
I personally think with Riley it is the upset of his Daddy coming home from Afghan for 8 days R&R then going back again! Riley started behaving like this at bedtime the week that Mat left again!
Strangely tho he settles really quickly for his nap after his lunch! he only tends to hav a little over half an hour at this one these days. lol.
has anythin changed in her day to day routine, or has ur hubby been away at all? I think changes effect them more than we think sometimes!
I am hopin all out little monsters start to get the sleep message again soon
Hugs x x

Hi hun

i was researching Siri's wakeful nights (wakes every hour atm for a feed) and found lots of references to a 'no cry sleep solution' book - i googled again and on amazon found
http://www.amazon.co.uk/No-Cry-Sleep-Solution-Through- Foreword/dp/0071381392/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid =1252006349&sr=1-1

it might be worth getting?

Same

Hey Keira,

Same here hun, Isla is 10 months and naps during the day in her cot absolutely no trouble or protesting at all, but bedtime has become an absolute nightmare these last few weeks and she screams her head off every night now, and it's really getting me down.

Her 5th & 6th teeth have just popped so my thoughts that it was teeth might not be applicable now, and the other night she screamed for 2.5 hrs before going to sleep and I tried absolutely everything I could think of aswell! Even if she falls asleep on her beftime bottle she screams the minute she touches the cot.

Right now I'm listening to her scream the place down again resisiting the urge to go in. I hate every minute of this too and have no idea where this has stemmed from!

Unfortunately, the only thing I can think of (maybe for both of us) if some hard and fast controlled crying tecnique. I admit I'm a wuss where this is concerned and tend to cave in and pick her up cos it makes me feel physically sick when she's screaming to her absolute maximum aswell.

I know this isn't much help, but you are definitely not alone hun, just wanted to offer you some moral support if nothing else!

Good luck and big hugs.
Love N & Isla xxx

Hey hun

hey nikki

awww thanx hun for your message. Abigail has finally gone to sleep, i feel bad leaving her i went up twice n gave her a kiss, sang to her n said nite nite, left the room n the crying started so i left her for 20min n turned the monitor off( i know thats bad ) then went back up n she was fast asleep.

Some nights me n my hubby r up n down the stairs for ages wiv her, she waits for the floor boards to creak on the stairs ha ha ha little monkey.

It gets you down doesnt it knowing what to do. I dread bedtime now, maybe she feels me been tense so she becomes unsettled.

Abi has 2 naps in the day n they dont last long at all. The only time she will sleep in day for over an hour is if im layed wiv her on my bed. Maybe thats not helping, she may think ive got to be wiv her at bedtime aswell.

It def is hard been a mummy ha ha ha...wouldnt change it for the world though ha ha

I hope u r ok hun. has isla settled yet?

Maybe the controlled crying does work, like ya said though its very hard to not go in n cuddle them

we have gotta be tough ha ha ha

love keira and abigail (the little monkey) xxxxx

Hi

Isla's asleep now too - I think she took about 20 mins aswell in the end, seemed not much longer after I'd sat and typed a reply to you earlier that she caved in! Isla's the same aswell in terms of hearing a creak on the stairs then cranking it up a notch! or if I've not shut her door far enough and she catches a glimpse of me going past!

Isla does 1 hour nap in the nap in the morning and 1 hour in the afternoon (but at Abigails age she was only doing 3 naps of about 20 mins). But like you say - esp this last week - I've started to dread bedtime aswell!

Don't feel bad about turning the monitor off either, we've even started turning ours all night now when we go to bed cos she just chats in the early hours and would wake us up, and if she cries we hear her anyway, but that was one of those moments where it takes a bit of a push to go through with it! hehe.

Good luck for tomorrow night, as much as I sympathise that you're going thorugh it aswell it was a bit of comfort to log on here earlier and see your post thinking the same as me!!!

Love N xxx
(PS - Isla's middle name is Abigail, maybe theres something in that?! hehe) x
