1st time swimming!

Hey Ladies!

Rosie went swimming for the 1st time today really proud of her, she didnt cry once and just took everything in! She did panic a bit when we tried floating her on her back but eventually she got used to it and gave us a big grin and was kicking her legs.

We put the little swimmers on her and her swim suit which was very cute, we were lucky because she emptied her bowls early this morning so i wasnt to paranoid encase she did go and the nappy didnt catch it lol but all was ok.

I didnt dunk her?...someone said its best to dunk them? but i was to scared she would choke or get scared of water so i just let her float on the surface and be up right in the water so she could watch the other children playing which she loved.

She got alot of attention off of the other people swimming which was nice heh *proud parent moment* heh.

Just thought id share and see how all you ladies got on with taking ur babies swimming?

Really glad Rosie enjoyed it. We have taken Ben swimming quiet a few times and he loves it. We have started the water babies swimming lessons with him as well. I was worried at first about dunking him but we did it and he was fab, didnt cry or nothing, now he dosent mind the water being in his face at all. We put Ben in a huggies swimmers, water babies tight pants and a wet suit (cos his ezcema cream makes him slippy so he is easier to hold with this on and it keeps him warm)

Hope you continue to enjoy it as much as we have

Jodie and Ben 19 weeks already

Swim nappies

most swimming pool will want yout baby to be in two swim nappies, just to prevent any leakage! I put Etienne in a disposable swim nappy (huggies, on sale at your supermarket or mothercare/boots) and then in swimming trunks bought from mothercare with a plastic liner inside (like a reusable nappy but looking like swimming trunks).
If the water is a bit cold (below 32 degrees), you might want to buy a baby wet suit to keep him warm.
Depending how confident you feel about taking him swimming, you can also invest in a baby swim seat.
Good luck with it all, I found it great fun to take Etienne swimming. I can't wait now to take his little sister along... only a few weeks to go before I can take her too!.
