Maternity leave

hi there

was wondering when (if at all) everyone is planning on returning to work/. Amelia is 14 weeks now ive been off over three months on the one hand im missing the stimulation from work and mixing with people but then again financially there wont be that much of a difference when i do return.

How is anyone else finding there time off?. I think i just feel a bit couped up some days ! esp when weather is awful and still learning to drive!.

Any advice would be appreciated... thanks

Maternity leave

Hi there,

I have had the full nine months off and will be returning at the end of October, part time.

Most of the time off has been okay with new mum groups, first aid course, walks etc etc but lately I have been bored. I wish some of you lived nearer so we could meet up! The last couple of weeks has been really quiet and Mark keeps saying that I should make the most of it and go out for walks or go round the shops but whilst walking is nice, it gets a bit lonely and I don't want to keep going to the shops as I will be tempted to spend money.

Emily starts swimming on Saturday for 10 weeks and Baby Sensory in a couple of weeks and these last until Christmas plus I will be working 3 days a week so I guess things will get busy then. Right now, like yesterday we spent the afternoon in the garden playing and Emily was on her swing and we went for a walk but I don't know what we shall do today. Probably be outside again.

Wish my parents would come and visit me but thats another story!

Hey

Rosie is 14weeks tomorrow and im going back February 2010. I did enjoy work but its a bit awkward with my boss as he didnt take it to well that i was going on maternity leave for 9 months! so since Sept 2008 when i found out i was pregnant he has been very off with me so im not looking forward to going back BUT at the begining when rosie was first born i did miss seeing everyone.

Its so hard if you dont have a car or cant drive (at the moment) as i wouldnt no what to do if i didnt have my car... i get out everyday for fresh air as i have a dog to walk so i would recommend going out for a walk to clear your head, if you can go out and see some friends go via bus? Join a mother and baby group?... i didnt ever think i would want to join groups etc as im nervous meething new people in new situations but im finding myself looking for swim groups, baby groups etc as i just cant stay in all day every day it drives me crazy!

go to google.co.uk and type in "post natal groups in london" or where ever u live and you should get quite a few web pages from it.

Hope this helps?

Hi

Thomas is 13 weeks & I have recently filled in the application form for the nursery. I am going back to work Mon, Wed & Thurs mid February, as opposed to my usual 5 day week. I am dreading going back!! The atmosphere in work changed & I started disliking the workplace (not the job) before I went on maternity leave. I would love to stay at hom with Thomas all week & have more children soon, however I do think I need to keep my hand in work & have a gap between kids lol. Plus going back to work means keeping up with the work - so that when kids are starting school, It won't be such a big leap to get back into work. I used to beabitious when it came to work, however, my priorities have changed tremendously & I never thought I would want to be a stay at home mum.
I have already had 3 KIT days with work & have done a bit of work at home (not so much out of choice but duty to finish a job), but it has done me good keeping my hand in.
Have you been in touch with your local community centres etc, I picked up a pack today & it's given me a whole week of things to do ie Mother & toddler groups, Rhyme time at libraries, music & dance classes for 0 - 5yrs, walkabout from the local clinic. I also have a couple of friends round one day a week with their babies.

Hope this helps

Hey hun

Archie will be 12 weeks this Thurs. I know how you feel, I dont really miss work at the mo, I miss the people and the animals but I am loving spending time with Archie.
I have found a wonderful group of ladies who all had their babies around the same time as me so we do quite a lot together. Do you have a Parent/baby group or Sure start you can join to meet people?

I am planning on going back to mork in March which will be 9 months (10 in total). Financially, I havnt really worked it out but I dont think theres much difference to be honest!!

Take care hun xx
