Docs advice for upset tum?

Hi all,

Kaitlyn has had an upset tummy since yesterday, wasn't too bad at first but seems to be getting worse today so am gonna take her to docs tomorrow anyway but just wondered if anyone else had taken their LO with this problem and what the doc advised? Should I be starving her or not and is there anything I can give her for it? She has the runs and is filling her nappy and being a bit sick pretty much every time I give her food or milk so it's obviously not agreeing with her but on the other hand she seems hungry and wants to eat and drink so not sure what I should be doing. It's not severe, she's pooed 4 times so far today and that's the most it's been since it started yesterday and she's not bringing up massive amounts when she's sick either just a small amount of food or milk and some clear mucous type stuff, she's drinking plenty of water and isn't too bad in herself, a bit quiet and sleeping a little more than normal but she's never really been ill up til now so I'm a bit over anxious. Any advice please? Hope you're all well, hardly ever manage to get on these days so am a bit out of the loop!

Love and hugs,
Clare and Kaitlyn (10 months) xxxx

The main thing hun

is to keep her fluids up, allow her to eat if she wants to tho, I wouldnt advise starving her, although she may still vomit after some foods for a day or so!
has she had a cold recently? just with you saying about the mucus?
usually best just to stick to plain foods and lots of fluids.
hope she gets better soon hun

Thanks nikki,

no she hasn't had a cold or anything, been away to OH's parents for a few days and it only started yesterday when we got home, had put it down to just being a bit unsettled with travelling and everything but does seem to be getting worse now. She's actively asking for extra water and drinking twice as much as normal so not too worried bout dehydration but am keeping a close eye on her for any signs. She's been fine in herself til this afternoon, went really quiet and miserable looking for a while and then went totally hyper an hour later til she exhausted herself and went to sleep, not herself at all. Think it's just gonna be a wait and see job but wanted to make sure I'm doing the right things til I can get her to the docs, glad you've said don't starve her cos she's a proper little foodie and would be awful having to say no! Thanks again hun, how's you and Riley?

Love and hugs,
Clare xxx
