First words

Hi all, hope all bumps and babies are well.

Well Zac is over 18 months now and is not saying any clear words just dadada but i don't even think he knows this means daddy as he calls it me sometimes! He understands loads of words, ball head, nose, hat, dinner, upstairs! but just doesn't say any clear words yet. He is really bright in other ways and his physical development is great, he can run and jump and climb. I was going to give my HV a ring if he hadn't progressed with his speech by 18 months so now i've just started to think about doing it. He's starting a new group next friday called talking tots-anyone heard of it? It's just a fun class to encourage 1-2 year olds with their speech. I don't want to push him -i know children all develop at their own pace but its so hard not to worry especially when friends babies/toddlers etc seem to advancing more quickly. When did your toddlers start to speak-i'm sure i'm worrying about nothing

Thanks

Anne-Marie & Zac 18 months

Hiya,
I really wouldn't worry 2 much all babies r different.
My baby didn't walk til she was 19 months n was under the HV. I was really worried but she did it when she was ready n was very good n steady from the start, she was very slow with all physical development but very good with social skills n talking!
My friend has a little one who didn't talk much as well. She is 2 and a half now n talks fine, she was just a slow starter! I
I understand how ur feeling but he is trying to talk n saying a few things so I'm guessing he will be fine hun. Maybe give the HV a call n express ur worries. Mine is quite good n she did talk me through my worries.
Good luck. mummyand2. xx
