Car seats question...

.... cadene is still only 7.44kg but her head is now at the top of the head protection bits on her rear facing car seat..... if you see what i mean...?? so do i get her the next one up even though she is below the weight recommended. which is 9kg.. i've kept her in there as long as i can but she is outgrowing it in height but not weight.... hmmmmmmmmmm not sure what to do......
i was at mothecare and spoke to one of the people from britax and he recommended the duo plus for my car... has anyone got this....? i would just like to know how good it is at staying clean etc as i have the bebe confort one now and the covers are a nightmare to get on/off and clean..... i want the pink one but will get black if it doesnt mark as much........???
hope you can help girlies......

Same prob here too....

I put scarlett into the forward facing when she only weight 16lbs although in mothercare they advised me against it, the prob i had was that she was 15 months old and still in her infant carrier, altough she hadnt outgrown it height wise she was actually pulling her arms out of the straps and pratically climbing out as she wanted to look forwards, i weighed it up and decided that she would be safer in a forward facing as she wouldnt try to escape (which she hasnt!), although she wasnt and still isnt the correct weight. i think the 20lbs recommanded weight is just a guideline, if her head is too high for her carseat now then it is defo time to change irrelevant of her weight!

Donna, scarlett 18months and 31 week boy bump.

Hoped you'd reply lol

you always have good advice having a teeny tiny one yourself lol..... i thought she would have longer in it but she had a big growth spurt and is now right at the top and generally looks uncomfortable... looked at the rearward facing ones today but they wont fit my car and start at about £250.... it's not fair really because i would get on if they were decent size/price but they dont have alot of them over here becuse we dont buy them but then when you want to buy one there's only a few to choose from..... can imagine her face when she's facing forward she'll be inshock... gotta get the christening and birthday put of the way and then get it........... in pink bet you'll have a porker of a boy now to make up for miss tiny xxxxxxxxxxxxxx danica xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi hun

i would think that as long as she is too big for the younger car seat in one respect then she should be in to the next one up.

please, please get a rear facing one though - all car seats are rear facing here and it makes such a difference to accident rates.

i know some of the girls on here have found some rear facing seats in the uk

http://rearfacing.co.uk/
i found that from a quick google

and awwww how wee is she!!!! siri is already nearly 9kg lol

here we have car seats that cover weight 0 to 25kg - not sure if you have them there? but then you would be sure she was safe even though she is light as a feather

hugs

thanks girls...

.. i know she's so tiny... she had a growth spurt recently but didnt put on any weight, she just got longer...! lol .. i do want a rear facing one but not sure if it will fit in my car.... will look into it a bit more.... need to do some reaearch because i think they do do a group 0 and group 1 combined seat here too............ i really liked the britax ones after speaking to one of their safety guys at mothercare... he was really knolwedgable and recommended rear facing too but said it would prob be too big for my polo........... thanks girlies xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hiya,
I had this trouble 2 as my 1st baby was small n light n didn't make the weight catergory but was 2 long n looked massive n uncomfy in the small baby seat!
When she got 2 9 months I put her in 2 the front facing, next size up seat n she was fine.
we had a Britax seat. i haven't a clue what design though!
It was fantastic though. It has 5 positions so u could tip in back when asleep. Cover was green and blue checks, so unisex. Was a tad awkward 2 take apart but didn't get 2 messy 2b honest.
