Formula feeds

When out and about i take cooled boiled water in bottles and just add the powder as and when she needs a feed, then i ask the cafe or where ever i am to heat it up but do we really need to warm it up or can i just give it to her at room temp? She will take it cold as she takes the cartons at room temp but i know the milk in the cartons are UTH sterilised?

Hi

ive always made the bottles up first and then add the powder when i need to its always so much easier sometimes i buy the cartons for when were out but we bought one of those pots which can hold 3 feeds weve never heated the milk they never took to it they always have it at room temp cartons or powder

karen and luke 20months and 13 week hayden

water then add powder

that what i do just make up a days bottles and leave them on kitchen top so i just add powder as and when , a lot easyer and the bottles are at room temperature so noo hot water

against HV advice but come on!
i think very few mums will had the time to make it up fresh all the time well not me anyway

lots of love

Hey hun

I only ever warm up the last feed at night the others are given at room temp. Our HV's actually advise not to warm every bottle as they will get use to it and when you have to give it at room temp they wont take it.

I make up my botles of boiled water at night and leave them on the side and use them as and when the next day.

Thanks... it does annoy me so much because i did b-feed for about 2 weeks and got loads of info but when i wanted to change over to bottle they never gave me any advise ive just followed what it says on the side of the formula tub - luckly rosie will take room temp milk (cartons) even though ive always warmed her milk as suggested on tub... but if they gave a bit more advise on formula fed babies aswell!! I thought we had to heat it up because the powder had to be heated other wise it wont disolve? lol... but now i know a few peeps who dont warm it i think i may not bother worrying whilst im out and about shopping now!

Hey

I do the same as you, and give it to megan at room temp.
There are so many places that wont warm it up anymore around stafford, hv said there isnt a problem with that, thats why the pots came out.

But can we do this with the powder aswell? Because ive always heated it up and everytime im out ive always gotta find a cafe or resturant so i can heat it up for her?

Well...

i dont warm anything up.

I boil the kettle in the morning and put the water into a flask and get the first bottle ready for the next feed, and then carry on doing that throughout the day.

If we are out i get 2 bottles ready with the water from the flask and then get the pots ready, and then when she wakes up for a feed, tip the powder into the bottle and give it to her normally. Megan has never had a problem with it being done this way.

okies, thanks

Unfortunately

I've got Thomas used to having his warmed! I wish he would take it at room temp & I've heard it's fine.

xx
