When did baby sleep through?

when did your babies first sleep through the night? my baby is 14 weeks old. she goes to bed at 8 and wakes twice for a feed usually at around 1am and 5am. i tried giving her a late feed before i go to bed but it doesn't seem to make a difference to her waking.
is this a good pattern for a 14 week old? i have no idea because this is my first baby.....

Hard 2 say...

Hi there,
Like the ladies have said, all babies r very different with their patterns so hard 2 say.
I have 2 kids n both have started sleeping through between 8 and 13 weeks old.
My friends baby however didn't sleep through til he was nearly 2 yrs old n wanted breastfeeding every few hours.
Another friends little one is 2 yrs old n has only recently started sleeping through in her own bed. Would sleep well in with parents rm but not on her own.
I think its just luck of the draw and as long as they r sleeping for periods of a few hours then its good.
I'm sure she will establish a routine in a few more weeks.
All the best. mummyand2. xx

Hi katy

My son George would wake every three hours for a feed for a couple of months (he was five weeks prem though). The gaps between night-time feeding got slightly longer over the next couple of weeks.

By the time he was three and a half months old, he was on formula and I'd discovered this book that detailed routines for a baby's day. It's called Contented Little Baby Book by Gina Ford. The book's premise is that babies should have the majority of their milk between 7am and 7pm, meaning that they will only wake if they really need to. It also advises structure for naps. I have to admit that I was really sceptical but I was lucky in that the routine the author details really suited George.

He now sleeps from 7pm till 7am every night, but I should stress that I can't honestly say whether it's down to the routine, or the feeding, his age, his size (he's a big baby), or the fact that maybe he was just ready. Perhaps it's a combination of all of those things.

I agree with the others that every baby is different - apparently me and my sister slept through the night from just three weeks old - my parents had it so easy!

This probably hasn't helped as I've ended up rambling, sorry!

Take care, love from Bec and George (seven months)

When i Breastfed rosie the first 2weeks she woke every 2 - 3 hours...then when we changed her to formula she droped a night feed so woke at 11pm and slept untill 4am then she gradually bought 4am feed to 6am so at about 5weeks she slept 11pm - 6am then HV suggested i did a dream feed on the 11pm one but rosie didnt take to it but litrally 2 day s later she droped 11pm and bought it forward to 8pm so...

8 weeks - sleeping 8pm - 6am

10 weeks - sleeping 7 / 8pm - 7 / 8am and shes kept this up since but when she is teething she wakes at 5 / 6am so it just depends, i only know a few people whos babies sleep through so i wouldnt worry. How many Oz's of food is she on?

Hey hun

Like the others have said, every baby is different,
Archie has been sleeping through since about 7-8 weeks I think. Hes formula fed. Has his last bottle 8-9pm then he wakes about 6-7.
Dont worry too much hun xx

Sleeping

Hi there,

Firstly every baby is different, are you breast feeding or formula? If breast then perhaps try a formula at night time to see if Ashira will last longer?

Emily went through the night about Ashira's age ( I think) but we still did the dream feed at 10pm until Emily was approx 5 months old but then she went through to 7am.

Hi katy

Thats exactly the same routine that Traivys was in at that age. Bear with it she is still very young. You can try dream feeding at 11pm as this might help but like Nat with Megan Traivys still woke up at 1am so I stopped it. Now at 20 weeks he has a bottle at 7pm a dream feed at 11/12pm and then wakes about 4/5.

I'm hoping this will soon move to 6/7 but I guess they do it when they are ready

I dont think I've been much help but at least you know you are not alone hun

Love Nikki & Traivys xx

Hey

Probably wont help much as megan is my first baby too but didnt want to read and run.

Megan started sleeping through about 8 weeks, but this didnt last long. Before that she was awake every 2-3 hours.

Now she is 13 weeks and she goes to sleep at 8 most of the time and wakes up around 3.30 but then is wide awake at 7. I tried giving her a feed at 10.30 but its like she forgets she has had it and still wakes anyway.

im not pushing her into sleeping through again, she will do it when she is ready again, she is teething really badly at the moment which isnt good.

Sorry not much help

hi hun

all babies are different some sleep through, some don't - some eat once or twice or if your name is Siri, many times though the night
Siri has never slept for more than 4 hours and now it's probably on average every 2 hours that she eats.
just go with what she wants - trust that she knows what she needs
you'll probably find bedtime getting earlier in the next few months. Siri is in bed between 6 and 7pm depending on what we have been doing, but it wasn't until a couple of months ago that she wanted an earlier bed time.

hugs
