Hello there hun

I had a sweep at about 41 weeks and I didn't feel a thing, unfortuantely it didn't work. I also had 3 inductions - 2 of which were fine but the last one was a bit uncomfortable. I think they were giving it their all as they knew a c-section was all that was left. That didn't work either lol and I ended up having a c-section.

I was very upset at first as I wanted a natural water birth and very little pain relief if possible but was told that if I went for a 4th induction attempt I risked a very long painful labour and may end up with an emergency c-setion any way and by that time my baby may be in distress.

At the end of the day I wanted what was best for my baby and it ended up being a really positive experience for me and as little stress as possible for my baby.

All the best hunni, look forward to reading your birth story

Hi

I had two sweeps one at 37 and one at 38 wks and neither worked although i was 2cms dilated! i was then induced all due to severe SPD. Good luck though let us know how it goes!!!

Hey

I had a sweep with megan when i was 41 weeks and 4 days, i was 2 cm dialated that that point. I got booked in for an induction 2 days later if labour hadnt started before that.

it didnt do anything for me, but i ended up having an emergency c section anyways as megans elbow was stuck so nothing was going to work.
My friend had her baby boy friday night after a sweep friday morning,

Sweeps are uncomfortable but can work wonders for some people.
Hope everything went ok

Good luck

Sweeps....

Hey there

I had 2 sweeps with my little boy. Had the first one on Tues she said it was nice and soft but not dialated, I had another one on Thurs and it was much softer and she was able to really stretch it (sorry TMI!) I went into labour on the Friday evening so it worked for me

I did find it a little uncomfy at the time, but apparently thats because of the shape of my uterus, but in comparison to the labour pains it was nothing (sorry!)
Best advise is to go for a massive walk after the sweep to try and get things going--i walked for miles in the few days before i went into labour and i'm sure thats what helped me

Good luck with it all, spect we'll be seeing you on here soon with your lil one!

My experience

Hi
I needed a sweep at 41 weeks. I was not dilated or effacted so it didn't work. I was accepting another sweep a few days later - again, it didn't do anything. I was induced 12 days overdue.
In my case it didn't work because, as I said, I wasn't dilated at all. Chances are that if you are dilated and effacted (even just a little bit) it will work. But then again, this is no guarantee.
I think they do two sweeps and then you will be booked for an induction at two weeks overdue if you don't go into labour naturally - unless you want to wait but then they keep an eye on you and the baby with scans I think.

The sweep itself was not painful for me at all. It is different for everyone though.

All the best! I hope it works for you!

Katy

Hey hun

I hope it has worked for you, I will now post knowing you've already had it....

I shouted " F*CK" at the top of my voice, it hurt sooooo much, I had to apologise to the doc for swearing & she apologised for hurting me lol. My hind waters had already gone hours & hours before so whether I was part way dilated??? I know I was 3cm when they looked after the sweep cos my front waters gushed within 10 minutes, then within half hour my contractios were minutes apart.

tc & hope all is well

Caz xx
