Cold remedies

Hello All,

Emily has lasted 7 months until her first cold! She went to bed last night all okay then at 9.30pm she wailed and we went in and she had snot pouring down both nostrils and she could not breathe.

Thank god I read this forum and remembered a few tips - I propped up her mattress and put a few towels underneath and popped Karval on a muslin at the end of her cot. Changed her nappy, gave her a cuddle and then we gave her a little calpol she did settle and sleep. She did wake up every couple of hours but I guess it could have been alot worse.

She is okay bit congested every now and then and we keep having to wipe her nose. She is still feeding well and has gone down to sleep okay tonight after her bath. We have put a vest under her babygro though to keep her a little warmer....

Anything else I can do to keep her nose clear throughout the night??

Thanks Girls

p.s. we had to miss Waterbabies today as felt it was not right taking Emily......

We had to miss water babies this week has Ben has been full of a cold. We have been using the new calpol plug in, it works wonders for Ben and it isnt very expensive. We got it from Tesco. Have a look for it it is worth a try.

Few things....

1) if you have an air purifier/humidifier turn it on in the room that she sleeps in with the door shut
2) baby vicks on her chest and under her nose or on her babygrow if you dont like it on her skin
3) baby olbas oil in a bowl of warm water on a radiator or near her cot and some sprinkled on a muslin nearish to her face/nose
4)salt water drops but that's just temporary if she gets too blocked up
5)lovely warm steamy bath for as long as poss before bed and steam up the bathroom beforehand
ummm that's all i can think of for now hun just try and get some vitamin c down her tomorrow, let her suck on some orange segments (check for pips of course)
6) oh yeah loads of cuddles
xxxxxxxxxxxxx
