Dumb question??

Hi there,

We are starting Emily on Aptimal Follow On Milk. The normal milk rule is one scoop to one ounce but it is not clear on the follow on box. It says for 7 ounces use 7 scoops but we never have a seven ounce bottle so I am assuming the same rule applies i.e. one scoop to once ounce.

Am I right - only started using it today so if I am wrong let me know.

Also another question, trying to get Emily to try more finger foods - at lunch she has the organic snacks but I am giving her pieces of mild cheddar and melon pieces. What else could I try her with.....

Thanks
Natalie & Emily xx

Hiya

we use the same and Sam has different amounts throughout the day and we always do 1 scoop per oz.

Sam has just started having bit of pitta with hoummous on which he sucks to death and he sucks on banana and also toast. We also have rice cakes and organix carrot sticks, sweetcorn rings and tomato somethings!! These are good as he can bite down on them and they eventually kind of dissolve so no panics about choking!

Good luck with the follow on, I'm not entirely sure what the difference is but actually Sam seems to enjoy it and it cost the same!

No its cheaper

BY A PENNY!!! But every penny counts

I found Emily gagged on melon, perhaps coz it did not break down so much in her mouth.....!

What else are you feeding Sam, I find we are not progressing much on the flavours / meal side of things...... I have tried cauliflour cheese, fish pie, chicken and cottage pie in jars and all were a big no no = shall I keep trying but i am fed up of throwing jars away and I am not going to cook batches of stuff until I know Emily will eat them. Therefore we keep playing safe and sticking to what I know she likes which is Ella (Stage 1) and veggie purees (well a bit lumpy now) and some with chicken sneaked in......

Hiya

Wahey! A penny!

Sam gags on melon too, so haven't tried again since. His favourite meals are chicken and sweet potato and beef and sweet potato and fish and you guessed it...sweet potato!!! They are made up from recipes from annabel karmel, they have other veg in too and he also likes a lentil and veg one too. He's really not into lumps in his food, i boiled up and mashed some carrot and potato today and he very unimpressed. So am just sticking with the purees for now. He is doing well with lumps of banana, bits of toast with thin smear of butter on which he sucks and spits out altho some bits go down. Sam likes the stage 1 jars but anything with lumps in are a no-no, they do taste pretty disgusting and bland tho!

He's doing ok tho, the only thing he hates are peas which i love so we're leaving them till another time. I suppose he is a child and they are green!!

I reckon just stick with it like you say, they get a lot of nutrients from the milk and I just don't wanna make meal times stressful so as long as stuff is going in i'm sure it's alright!

I agree

anything with sweet potato in is a winner........

Emily goes to nursery soon so it will be interesting to see how she gets on there, if she sees other children eating she may eat more foods??

Yes

it's always 1 scoop to 1 fl oz water. I dunno what you mean about never having a 7 oz bottle though. Do you mean because it always rises above the 7 to nearer 8 when you put the scoops in?

What age is Emily now? Why are you changing to a follow on?

You could give her chunks of banana, strips of toast, the little rice cakes?

Drinking

No Emily never drinks that amount, 6 ounces at the most but normally 4 or 5......

Emily is 7 months and 2 weeks now, the HV advised I should change from Aptimal 1 to Follow On...

She has had rice cakes, carrot sticks (the organic snack ones), sweetcorn puffs, cheese and melon piece.

I tried her with toast but she kept gagging on it - do you put butter on or leave it as is?

Thanks for the scoop answer

Natalie
