Did rasberry leaf tea work for anyone or is it a waste of money?

Hey ladies I asked this Q over on expecting but didn't get much of a response!
Just wondering how much RLT I should be taking now? ( I'm 36+3 by the way )
I never took it with my first as she was born at 24 weeks lol

Does it actually work or am I wasting my time and money? Would be good to hear from mums who have experience of it!
Thanks in advance

Who knows really...

but I'd use it again, Eleanor was 5 days late, I had a long 30+ hour labour but was only pushing for ten minutes, I put it down to the RLT, but who really knows???
I started drinking it at about 34 weeks, (didn't mind it myself, but some people add sugar) I heard it worked better than the tablets and I drank 4/5 cups a day every day, ha ha, I was desperate, I'd take it again because it did me no harm and like I say, you never really know....

Hi kirst

I think I came across you on fb the other day ( think we may have mutual friends on there! ( Leitia & Nikki ) anyway sorry bit off topic - lol!

My first labour was 33 hours ( didn't take it then )
My second was 40 hours ( took it that time ) so don't think it helped me much!

Not long left for you! Eeeeeeeeeeeeek!

Hey hun

I took it for about a week but it gave me severe cramps!!
My MW also said not to start taking it until your 37 weeks as it can make your uterus contract
Adele xx

Hi Kirst,

I took RLT with emily, started taking it at 33 weeks. As far as im aware, its not supposed to bring labout on or make you go into labour, its supposed to strengthen your uterus so that it makes the second stage of labour shorter. I was in labour for 23 hours from start to finish (was induced) but it only took 5-6 pushes to get her out!

I found it easier to drink it lukewarm, neck it down in one, and start off with one a day, then work your way up. i was taking 3 cups a day at the end.

Hope i helped

Good luck

Hi there,
Well I tk it wiv my 2nd baby. I didn't take it til week b4 due date. I would say it did help with my 2nd stage of labour. It didn't bring on labour but isn't suppose 2.
My 2nd stage of labour was very fast. I wasn't pushing 4 half as long as 1st labour, only 15 mins or so so very fast.
I think it helped my labour. It was much more pleasant than 1st time when I didn't take it!
Good luck, mummyand2. xx

Didnt do a thing for me and i defo wont be sing it this time around, i do know a few of the ladies that swear by it but i just think that your either gonna have a good labour or your not! sorry not been much help!! x

Well, I started taking 1 a day quite early on (can't remember exactly)

I quit as I thought it was making me feel sick but then realised it was just the way I was feeling. The day I decided to start taking it seriously I had my show and Calum was born 2days later- 6days early. My labour was 11hrs, obv nothing to compare too but seemed to have helped.

2 of my friends were due 13 and 14th September- 1 who took RLT had her son 5days early and the one who didn't went 2wks overdue.

I just think anything is worth a try! The thing is you never really know if it worked or not as every labour is different.

Good Luck hun xxxx
