Not feeding

Im a bit worried about Archie, he had a bottle at 8am today, drank it fine, had about 7oz but he hasnt had anything since!! Ive offered a bottle too him 3 times since but he pushes it away, I dont think hes poorly, he seems bright enough, hes very smiley, he doesnt seem to have a temperature but has got really Rosie cheeks, hes finally gone off to sleep just now.
Should I worry about this?! I also had him weighed this morning, hes now 16lb14oz, 4oz more then last week so hes slowed down a bit.
What would yo all do?

Hey

Megan has only had about 12oz today and basically sicked everything back up, we have gone through 3 bibs before bathtime and then 3 more after bathtime.
i got her up to have a bottle but she just messed with it, and megan is teething with a bug so im guessing its Archies teeth.
Just keep trying him and try and give some water,
The hv suggest liquid anbesol if calpol or the gels and powders are working properly, its safe for babies and behind the counter in boots, maybe give that a go?

Hey hun

I was going to ask if he has pooped cos Thomas sometimes wriigles & spits his milk out when he needs to pump or pooh. However, after reading the other replies I realise it must be to do with his teeth. & now I understand why Thomas has been funny with his bottles as he is teething.
Have you tried giving Ashton & Parsons powder before his bottle?

Hope his gums get better soon & he gets some fluid down him

poor archie

Like clare said, i also think its teething... Rosie was like this a week or so ago and she kept refussing her bottle she was teething and HV narrowed it down to reflux - i know Arhcie has reflux so maybe he was just having a bad day with it? but the rosey cheeks sounds like teething.

When Rosie was bad i never stuck to her routine as she just would keep spitting the bottle back out, now she has got back in to her morning routine but still her afternoon feed is all over the place.

I would make sure he is getting his water, if you are atall worried over night you can ring NHS good old NHS direct eh!

With his weight, he is putting on weight so its good even though its a small amount but if he has had reflux this might be why he hasnt put on so much weight etc?

Hi hun,

had this a few times with Kaitlyn and still do from time to time. Used to worry me to death but have come to the conclusion it's teething related and as long as it doesn't drag on longer than a day or two it's best to try not to get yourself in a state about it although I know I did the first few times! I think the sucking action is just too sore for them sometimes if they are getting a bit of teething pain and it must make them feel a bit under the weather too, think what we're like if we're in pain. Worth trying some teething gel a few minutes before a feed see if you can numb his gums enough to make it comfortable for him, or try a cold teether maybe? Other than that hun just keep a close eye on him (like I need to tell you!) and obviously see a doc if it carries on or you're worried, I used to feel sure she would starve if she didn't feed for a few hours but they don't honest! The only other thing is to try and get some fluids down him and watch for signs of dehydration but know you're not daft so you know all that! Don't feel like I've been much help sorry hun, hope he picks up soon.

Love and hugs,
Clare xxx
