Child tax credit

Hey hope everyone is okay.

I had a single claim set up but my partner moved in so I had to make it a joint claim. They said they have to shut down my single claim so I won't get any more payments for Rhys until it's sorted. If my partner hadn't moved back in I would have just had to add Lily to the existing claim and everything would be fine. So basically I have my income support to live on until they sort it to look after four of us and pay the bills, don't know what I'm gonna do. They said it may take 10 days for me to even receive the form...

Does anyone know how long it takes for a new child tax claim to be set up?

Thanks
Love Toni, Rhys (17months) and Lily (6days) x x x

Well....

I've just set ours up - and I'm not sure if it's working tax credits or child tax credits (we were entitled to one but not the other, but I can't remember which way round it was without looking) - either way - it was the same form and the same process and I think it took about 3 weeks from sending the form off to getting confirmation.

However, money dropped in our account (including backdated so it was a nice amount) sooner than this, maybe 10days ish?

Hope this helps, although I guess it depends how many they are processing at the time, but hopefully you will be similar and when the first payment comes backdated if applicable!
Love N & Isla (11 months) xx

Me again!

Just checked - yes it was child tax credits, it was working tax credits we weren't entitled to. x
