What happening?

Archie was diagnosed with Reflux a few weeks ago. He was put on Gaviscon and Ranitidine(an anti-acid) and the vomiting seemed to stop altogether. Beacause of this I tried to reduce the amount of both I was using and he started to vomit again!!
Today he has had 2 bottles the first he probably threw up 2/3 and Ive just given him another of which hes probably thrown up 1/2.
I dont know what to do now!! I am definately going to put both medications back up again and see.
How long does reflux normally last for? Its horrible watching him enjoy a bottle just to go and throw it all back up again!! I feel really bad for trying to reduce his meds too!

Thanx guys
Adele xx

Hey

Mia had reflux really bad and was put on Ranitidine and Donperidone (sp?) both these together really hellped her reflux and she was hardly sick, until they tried to wean her off them and she couldnt keep anything down. she was on the medication until she was 9/10 months old...even now she has an intollorance to cows milk and things like tomatoes and oranges make her really sick. They usually do grow out of it by the time they are one.

I know how horrible it is seeing them so sick but it wont last forever hun! id keep him on the meds til he is a bit older, it wont do him any harm!

Hope that helps,,

Hiya,
I have this prob! When we was out I gave baby a bottle without the gaviscon n this happened.
She has 1 sachet in every bottle n HV said this will continue til she is weaned.
I ain't goin 2 adjust it as she is much better with it at the mo n isn't bein 2 sicky, although she does have 4oz bottles every 2 hours!
They do say they grow out of it, so just hoping she will be better once weaned.
Good luck. mummyand2. xx

Hey

Dont feel bad, you were doing what you thought was the right thing to do with him not being so sick anymore.

Hv said they never know how reflux can go on for, I always got told by 12 weeks it will start going, but it didnt really develop properly until 12 weeks and shows no sign of giving up just yet. Think as long as weight doesnt drop or any other worries come up they still dont tend to do much whilst they are little

Aww hon

don't feel bad, you were only doing what you thought was right and it's the only way to see if he still needs them, I would've done the same. I'm sorry, I don't know much about reflux, hope he's ok soon tho x x x

Thankyou

Thanx guys for the replies xx
