had my baby

i went in for induction on saturday night at 8pm as i was 13 days over due. It was decided that i wasnt favourable enough to have my membrains ruptured or for the drip so i was given the prosten pessery and told that it would make my cervix more favourable and that i was to get a good nights sleep and would be reviewed at 6am sunday morning.

So i sent my partner home and by 12 i was getting niggly pains like bad BH so couldnt really sleep so sat watching tv on a birthing ball. By 2:30 the pains had progressed and was getting back ache like you wouldnt belive and was having to make myself relax through the pains so i called my OH to come back. By the time he got back to the hospital i was really uncomfortable and was getting the feeling of needing a poo and having to pee all the time.

I eventually called the midwife and asked for some pain killers so had paracetamol at about 3:30 i asked if i was alowd a bath as my back ache was getting really bad, so had a bath and some more painkillers. The midwife recond i might be in early labour so i was chuffed that something might be finally happening.

I got out of the bath after an hour and a half and tried to go to the loo again but couldnt. I decided i would sit on the ball again then would try and get some sleep. so after 15 min on the ball felt like i had to get up for the loo again! so off i waddled. On the way back from the loo i got a very nasty contraction and my OH had to come over and support me as i felt all wobbly then all of a sudden my waters treakled down my leg and i was standing in a lovely sticky puddle. I was complrstly shocked and was convinced that i must have wet myself lol.

OH called fir the midwife who said she wanted to put me on the monitor for 30 min then examine me to see if the pains were doing anything. After about 10 min the contractions were very regular and comming every min so she examined me and said "would you belive me if i waid you were 8-9cm and i can feel the babys head". I could have cried i was so pleased and even asked her if she was jokeing. i then asked for gas and air as i new id be alowd it

To cut the story short my baby boy was born at 8am, after 1hour40 of the first stage of labour and only 14min of the second stage!!! and all on breathing, a few paracetamol and some gas and air. He weighed in at 9lbs exactly and is compleatly perfect. He has taken to breastfeeding like a dream! elliot my first is doing brilliantly with him and is accepting him without any fuss.

The birth was compleatly differant to my first which was horrific so i really feel like this one has made up for it. i never in a million years expected to get as far as i did thinking i was just in early labour so to say im proud of myself is an understatement. I was allowd home 7 hours after i had him.

sorry for such a long post but im just so chuffed i had to put it down.

hope all mums, babies and bumps are ok
