My poor baby has got another cold!! He has only just got over the last one (been about 4 days) and hes full of snot again!!
Hes still eating, and in the day seems ok in himself, its just last thing at night and first thing in the morning hes really snotty and struggles!! I hate seeing him like this.

Would any of you go to the docs as its not been long since he had the last one?!

Thanx guys

Poor Archie!

Have you tried a respirator? Everyone says how good they are. We have this little syringe thing from boots that clears Megans nose in the morning, she doesnt seem to bad the rest of the day.
Only other thing I can think of is, if your having a bath or hot shower take him in there with you and put some vapour rub on a damp flannel if the radiators are on, or put some in some warm water.

Docs wont tend to do anything if its not a chesty cough, just calpol, vapour rub and fluids.
Hope he gets better soon

Few tips

When Etienne had a cold when he was little, I used to raise his mattress a bit at the top by putting a thickish book under the mattress to help his breathing. Also, you can buy Kalvol at the chemist. Very efficient to help breathing and suitable for babies. You can also buy a nasal "aspirator" to help suck out the mucus. They sell them at mothercare. It seems gross but it really helps them.
The reason why he struggles a lot in the morning is because he's spent a lot of time lying flat and all the snot has gone down his throat (sorry for the description!) because they can't blow their nose yet.
Unfortunately, the doctors won't be able to do much. I only tend to take Etienne to the doc if his cold develop into a chesty cough, which you always want to have checked out.
good luck and I hope little Archie's feeling better soon.

Aww get well soon archie

Must be horrible, hope he gets better soon. Touch wood Thomas hasn't hada cold yet but he has been sick & his tummy has been making strange noises All sorts of bugs going round to kick the winter off British style

Have you got an aspirator (I think that's what it's called), I got one free from somewhere & clear Thomas' nose out every morn even though he hates it, bless.

Reminded me!!!

Hiya,
Thats just reminded me, iI was goin 2 invest in 1 of these!
My MIL saw them at a baby show n said they looked really good. I will get one I rek! Thanx!

Mine 2..

Hiya,
Oh poor Archie.
Both my kids r the same, coughs n colds. I have also had tonsillitus so hada rite week!
The kids seem fine in the day until they go 2 sleep n then constant coughin n wakin becoz of it! Its so frustrating n horrid 2 see. We tk baby 2 docs last wk as MIL said cough sounded like whooping cough!
Doc said all was ok, checked her over n just said calpol n karvol drops etc.
Lots a people have colds at the mo n just get passed around. Babies have low immune systems so just pick em up again n again.
Horrible. If he gets a temp n is off eatin n generally not rite than I would take him 2 docs 2 b sure, better 2 b safe. I am using karvol drops or olbas kids on a flannel in the cot outta reach 2 help with the snuffles n then I have calpol n calprofen if shes really grotty.
Take care n get well soon Archie.
