Help!

Kaitlyn's never been a big milk drinker and has had spells before where we really struggle to get much down her but she hasn't had a bottle now since yesterday morning and I'm getting a bit worried. I usually put it down to teething when she's like this, she shows all her usual signs of wanting a bottle but point blank refuses to have the teat in her mouth (but will take water from a bottle which is strange) so I tend to think the sucking action must be sore for her, I do usually manage to get some down her though, this is the first time she's stopped taking milk altogether. She's eating really well and I've increased her solids, particularly dairy stuff to compensate but surely she should still be taking some milk? It wouldn't bother me so much but she seems really distressed about it, don't know whether to just stop offering it altogether for now as it just seems to wind her up more, as though she wants it but can't have it for some reason iykwim? I've tried everything to get her to have it, formula in a cup instead of a bottle which she won't touch, even cows milk (warm, cold, in a bottle, in a cup, all ways!) which she shouldn't really have til she's one but that's only a couple of weeks off now so thought it was worth a try, nothing works. She's drinking her normal amount of water but can't seem to get her to have any more and it seems a massive drop in fluids without her milk, her nappies are noticably less wet but she is drinking and peeing some so do I need to worry about dehydration? Not feeling the best at the mo so think it's probably fazing me more than it should, help please!

Love and hugs,
Clare and Kaitlyn (nearly 1) xxxx

I had this....

Hi there,
Well I had this with my 1st baby. She wasnt a massive milk lover, still isnt n is 4 now!
She would battle n only had a nite time bottle after bein 1 or so. Even that was a struggle. We had 2 put a tad of milkshake or horlicks in( they dont recommend but HV said if it was a little bit it was better than nothing!)
So we did that n she would have sumthing like 4/ 6oz of milk then.
Was very annoyin n people saying 'well my baby loves milk, my baby has lots of milk etc' didnt help me at all!
She was a good eater at this stage though n I did as u r doin. I gave milk in other food eg weetabix or porridge every mornin n lots a yoghurts etc.
It is very stressful n dishearting I know.
She would have juice in tippy cup throughout day but not milk n still doesnt like it now 2 drink.
Try not worry 2 much. Keep makin it up n offerin it but if she doesnt want it I wouldnt battle as its makin an issue which can be much worse.
My niece still likes her milk b4 bed n sumtimes mornings n she is just over 2 now. They r all different hun.( Although she has milk in bottle still which I think isnt 2 good when she has all her teeth.?)
Good luck, n try not 2 worry 2 much.
mummyand2. xx
