Walking?

Hey ladies, hope you're all well?

Just wondering what age your little ones started walking? Olivia will be 13 months next week and just isn't quite brave enough to let go of our hands yet.

She's always been really strong on her legs when walking with both our hands and from about 7/8 months everyone was saying how she'd be an early walker but she's still not cracked it yet! A couple of times she's stood for 3 or 4 seconds before sitting down but thats the best we've managed!

Has anyone else found this with their little ones? I know they say some babies dont walk until up to 15 months so I'm not worried about her development as such but I'm sure she could do it if only she'd try!!! Any tips?

Hello

My little boy has always been very strong on his legs from a very young age and I remember people saying he would be an early walker... it didn't quite turn out this way. He started walking properly when he was 15 and a half months. Between 13 months and then he would do 2 or 3 steps but that was it. And then we went away for a long weekend with him and he just got it then.
Don't worry it will come. My best friend's boy walked at 19 months! it's absolutely fine.

Flo, Etienne 21 months and Léonie 15 weeks.

Thanks

Olivia's still not walking unaided but I'm sure I can see an improvement! She's definately sinking to the floor a bit slower than she was, ha ha!

She walks everywhere just holding the tip of one finger but its obviously just the support she needs and once she's a bit more confident hopefully she'll just get up and go!!

I cant wait now, but I'm sure once she's does start walking I'll wish she didnt!

love Shelley & Olivia xx

Hey

Acey turned 1 on the 10th September and he 'officially' started walking on the 1st September. He'd been walking holding onto our hands from 6/7 months, always been super strong on his legs lol and had been walking from object to object by himself from about 8.5/9 months, as in settee to toybox, toybox to tv etc, but it was more of a run and dive he was doing haha.

Sounds like she just needs a bit more confidence...Ive never actually had to try and get Acey to walk, he just did so not sure what to suggest....
Have you tried with just holding one hand? and maybe buying some reins too and walking her that way?

I heard that some babies dont walk until 18 months...

Anyhow, good luck for Olivia (and for you once shes learnt haha)

Take care, Lu & Acey & Faryn xx

Lazy legs

ha ha.. that's what i was calling cadene... she only started properly walking yesterday but was very similar to olivia up til now... she could walk holding hands from 6 months so we assumed she would be an early walker but she just never had the interest in doing it by herself other than a few steps... she just suddenly started standing up on her own and taking steps last week and it went from there... i think they have to have the confidence and will to do it and that's something we can't control.. she'll be walking before you know it and then everything has to be moved again lol.. also cadene walked better on carpet and soft flooring and i have wood floor so that def delayed it.... good luck cause those legs wont be lazy for long xxxxxxxx danica and cadene 13 months xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Heya, I wouldn't worry yet hun. It's frustrating because you know there sooo close but not quite there yet. My son is 18months + 1 week and still isn't walking. He has managed to take 6 (little) steps on his own and can stand for a min on his own but thats it.

My HV has referred my son just to check he hasn't got a limp etc but I'm confident he hasn't. Sometimes my son just gets too excited and falls over.

Just let her walk holding your hand as much as you can, my son walks to his highchair etc.

Good luck

Hi there,
Frustrating isnt it? I had this with my now 4 yr old who didnt walk til19 months n was under HV.
They ideally like them 2 b walking by 18 months. so my HV said.
She is obviously just not confident as yet. We used a baby walker and brought an activity walker and a dolls sturdy pushchair that helped as she could play and walk aided.
Im sure she will do it soon hun. My daughter walked very well once she did it!
The good thing was that it was like she had been walking years! No tumbles n knocks!
Good luck n dont worry. mummyand2. xx
