Who looks after your baby/kids?

Hiya, just a wee question. We are having trouble with getting a baby sitter. OH and I work full time and have tried to work our shifts so one of us can be with Logan. There is 2 days a week normally when we need someone!

My gran has been watching him recently, but he is such a handful and she has things she wants to do. Child care is so expensive and because i do rota work, its so hard to organise. Wish my mum didnt work, she would be my main choice and she would love to watch him.

We also want another baby soon but im so worried about child care.

I soooo want to be a stay at home mum!

What do you girls do with your little ones?

Hiya,
Yep childcare sure is expensive. Have u looked into the working tax credits?
I wrk 2 hrs a day n it fits in with my mums job so luckily she has my kids 4 me along with help sumtimes from sis in law, mum in law, n hubbys aunt. Very lucky I have em all 2 hand at times.
I have just returned 2 wrk this week after 6 months leave. I wanted 2 return 4 the adult conversation!!!! It does get rather boring n frustrating at hm 24/7!
I wud recommend looking in 2 all the childcare in ur area, creche, nursery, childminders, they r all different n sum will cater better 4 ur needs.
Good luck hun.

Its so difficult, i know a few peeps that cant afford child care as its the same amount of money they earn in the day so there is no point? Have you seen a finacial person who may suggest something for you? Maybe staying at home and claiming benifits? (sorry about spelling)! Our parents are looking after Rosie for 3days but i wish it was me looking after her.

Hope you get something sorted soon.

Eleanor

is at nursery as you may already know, make sure you know your rights with regards to flexible working, try:

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Parents/Moneyandworkentitlements/WorkAndFamilies/Parentalleaveandflexibleworkin g/index.htm

I applied for flexible working and was able to work 24hrs over 2 days (2 x 12hr shifts) on set days too, so I work just a Wednesday and every other weekend.

Cicrumstances at home have recently changed again, but I guess for now the same arrangements will stay in place, nursery on a wednesday and grandparents at the alternate weekends....nursery is expensive, Eleanors place for 4/5 days in a month is £180 or so...I am really happy with the service they provide for Eleanor though

I hope you work something out....nothing suits me, when I'm not at work I want to work and when I'm working I don't want too, I know 2 days a week isn't much, but, right now, my thinking is that i'd rather be at home full time....or maybe i'll keep my eye out for new jobs...who knows what I'm doing with myself at the moment!! lol

Hey

Hi Natalie (from another Natalie!)

Emily is with a Childminder at someone's house. She was going to go to a Nursery but we had a bad experience so pulled her out at the last minute. We cannot ask family members to look after Emily 3 days a week, its not fair on grandparents if they are retired. Emily is at a house with 2 other children and a dog and she gets so much attention as she is the baby of the house. She loves it and has really settled in and I love the childminder and we even get to borrow toys for the weekend for Emily.

It is expensive but hopefully we have budgeted correctly and the money i earn there is enough left over once childminder costs are paid for £520 a month.

I could not be a stay at home mum 5 days a week, I would go crazy and so far relishing the best of both worlds working 3 days and having 2 days plus the weekend with Emily. Only issue is trying to fit in the housework too.........

Mines

are in childcare.

I don't have anybody at all to help out. I take them to the dentist, doctors everywhere with me never mind for a full day at work x
