Vomiting/feeding please help!

Hey everyone hope your all okay.

Lily is 5 weeks old and weighs 10lb 7oz (was 8lb 6oz at birth) so she is gaining weight nicely but she is only having 3/4 oz bottles every 3 to 4 hours, sometimes at night she only drinks 2 oz. My main concern is when I spoke to the health visitor he said she should really be on 30 oz a day, when at the most she has 22oz.

I know every baby is different but over the last 2 weeks she has started to be sick after the occasional bottle. First week she vomited twice but since then it has increased to every day, just once but its the full 3oz (to be honest it looks like more). Could it be her milk? Everything I look up it says she could be being over-fed but there's not a chance of that. Am I worrying over nothing, should I wait to see if she loses weight?

The health visitor is coming on Wednesday so Lily will be weighed then but I think she is going to start losing weight if she carries on drinking so little and vomiting.

Thanks girls

Thanks girls

I'm probably just worrying for nothing because she is gaining weight and sleeps reasonably well so she must be happy and content.

I will speak to the health visitor and see what she says but if Lily's weight is ok then that's great.

Thanks again

Hey

Megan is just over 5 months old now and she isnt on 30oz a day, she has around 23oz and she is sick a lot.
She has reflux but gaviscon didnt agree with her after a while so they gave me infacol which was pretty pointless so i have took her off the meds and got to wait it out.
The hv shouldnt be telling you how much she should be drinking.
See what her weight is like when the hv comes round and mention the sickiness, and then go and see gp if your not happy.

Megan started loosing weight around 12 weeks and then she didnt put any weight on at all for 3 weeks but now she is going up the chart and putting on weight nicely.

Let us know how you get on

Mine was the same...

Hi there,
Well I had the same kinda thing with my baby n the HV said it was reflux. I tk her 2 the GP n she is now on Gaviscon infant. She has a sachet in every bottle n will continue 2 until she is weaned. She is alot better now n not sicky. She has 4/ 5oz bottles every 2/4 hours now, she is 5 months old now.
She sleeps through sum feeds n she isnt on the average milk intake either! My HV said not 2 worry!!
I would see wot they the HV says n then take her 2 GP..
All the best hun.

Hey hun...

Aww don't worry too much. Joe was exactly the same! He would have his bottle then at least once a day he would throw the whole lot bak up and it really scared me cos he would wretch and choke!!

Well he was trying to drink 6 ounces!! But then he would be sick! I put it down to wanting it but ge hadn't enough room for it lol! Well he was constipated too and colicy at night... Do I changed him to hungry baby milk... And as if like magic it's all stopped!! No vomiting, no colic, no constipation... Nothing!!

I have been amazed at the difference to be honest! I think because the milk is thicker it lies heavier in the stomach and reduces the wind, and it's richer so makes him poo!!

Maybe you could try this with lily for a day to see how she gets on?!

Joe is drinkin 5/6 oz every 4/5 hours (6/7 at night).

Let me no how u get on x
