"No, but guilty as charged... " Posted by mrsxmoo 8 October at 16:20
I was adament Lukas wouldnt have one, but the feeding issue when he was 3 wks pushed me to cave in and give him one. Fortunatley like some others because there was no food he spat it out, but then came the chomping on my nipple for comfort. So the gob stopper now goes in when hes tired, to sooth him to sleep, but ironically he doesnt have it for bed, just for his naps in the day. Come last feed he takes himself off to sleep, its as if he knows its bed time!
Made to feel gulity twice in one day. Mrs Moo xxx

I dont like them either. Logan is nearly one and has never had one, when he was younger he had a blanky to cuddle into at bed times, he doesnt use it now though!

I always swore I wouldn't, thought they were horrible etc but Ivo gets a huge amount of comfort from sucking. He only has it for getting off to sleep and once he's dropped off at night it falls out and he's fine with that - doesn't need it putting back in all the time.
I'd like to be rid of it before he's 1 but at this age I think anything which comforts them can't be too bad.

"I do too" Posted by claire09xx 6 October at 17:35
Mainly beacuse I sucked my thumb until I was 12 (yes really!!) so I wanted something that he can be weaned off as he gets older. I'm aiming to have him off it by his 1st birthday.
My local Childrens Centre do Dummy Parties where the children give their dummies to a fairy and get a present in return. Quite a good idea for those babies who are reluctant to part with their dummies.

I used them with all mine, but only during naps and so far the older 3 gave them up of their own accord before their 1st birthday, if Harry is showing no signs of doing so then i will get straight on to it, i see so many toddlers in pushchairs still sucking on dummies and there is a little boy at my kids school he is in year 1(aged 5-6) at school and his mum has to bring a dummy and pushchair to get him from school, he will never live that down among his peers.

Leigha has a dummy but only at nap and bedtimes. I always said I wouldn't use one but they really do work! I hate to see older toddlers with them in when they don't really need them, Im determined not to let that happen! Gemma and Leigha

they're not called pacifiers for nothing but I do cringe to see inappropriate use like when a toddler is sitting in a buggy quite happy but with a big dummy shoved in.
My current babies aren't big fans. Charlie has one only if upset/unwell. Francis isn't too enamoured of them at all.
Jude had addiction issues with it and didn't relinquish till the xmas eve a few weeks before he turned 4. Got him to leave them beside Santas cookies and milk for Santa to take to a poor baby.
He would not fall asleep without it before that. Ever
Don't feel bad cos of using labour saving devices

i really hate them but still use one!!! wondered other peoples views eally. my cousin had one til he was 4 and his mm mae him flush it down the loo!! i dread that happenin bt i dont let him have itunless upset or nap/bedtime.
i also hate to see toddlers wandring round with one in their mouth that and a bottle when they are cearly old enough for a cup.......
y friend for a special ribbon and got her daughter to tie it to te xmas tree for santa to take to the baby reindeers. this year she is getting 'santa' to leave apiccy of a reindeer (toy) with the dummy next to it that she took last year efore throwing it out!!
