"Blankets?" Posted by llokaa 13 January at 22:25
Over here (France) blankets are to be banned the 1st year to reduce sudden cot death! Funny how things and ideas vary from one country to another one!
The couple of things I bought and hardly used is a bottle steriliser (at the end I put the bottles in boiling water on hot plate for 10 mns) and bottles warmer. Tommy drank his milk at room temperature and never complained!
Take care and happy mothering and birth

"Instead" Posted by jehanne41 9 November at 19:06
of blankets we are using I d'ont know the english word for it Turbulettes, Gigoteuses, it is a sort of slepping bag for babies, which closes on the babies shoulders and a zip on one side. And we are advised to put babies to sleep on the back there has been a reduction of 75per cent on coat death since we were given that sort of advice, I use a bottle steriliser, but not a bottle warmer, and I clean my baby bottom with cotton wool and water.

"Cot death" Posted by katy276 17 January at 12:39
so what will you use instead of blankets? I the UK, we are always getting conflicted advice for cot death - lie the baby on his back, lie the baby on his side, lie the baby on his front etc...until scientists find out why it happens, I don't really think anyone can say what people should and shouln't do, apart from common sense things.

"I can't do without" Posted by cuckookoo 10 December at 11:24
muslin squares... (you wouldn't believe what comes out of both ends of a baby!)
It comes down to how much you want to spend really, you could go mad, but there is plenty of stuff you don't really need or can improvise.

"You need.." Posted by glendale1 10 December at 11:19
Bedding for cot and pram - but you can use pillow cases as sheets to avoid buying them. Changing bag Clothes etc - althought you've prob already thought of that Feeding things, like bottle etc, even if you think you're going to breast-feed, it's good to have for afterwards.
hope this helps

That's really helpful, Glendale
People are already giving us loads of clothes and blankets, but as am not very practically-minded, I need a nudge in the right direction!
